Dominika. There are so many songs of Mark's that you have yet to discover! He has been my favourite songwriter, lyricist, and guitar player since I was just 16 years old. His solo career has more than twice as many albums as his Dire Straits career. In his solo albums you will discover his journey back to his musical roots; Celtics, Folk, Blues, Country styles with his signature story-telling in every song. His ability with words is matched by his ability to create beautiful melodies. There are so many!! Just one example, mentioned above: Lights of Taormina. Listen and enjoy the journey 😊

What a fantastic solo from Mark 😮 a great slow slow song is You and Your Friend from the On The Night concert, which has amazing blues guitar from Mark. Also, try his solo song called Golden Heart from the A Night in London concert.

The style of guitar Mark does, is called Chicken Pickin, using his fingers, to play the bass strings, and the high notes. It's a style made famous by Chet Atkins, Vince Gill, Steve Warner, Albert Lee, Jerry Reed, and most recently, Derek Trucks , of Tedesschi Trucks Band. While the sometimes use a pick, most of the time they are plucking the guitar with their fingers.

I've seen Mark on many occasions and had the pleasure of meeting him about 3 years ago in a cafe in Newcastle, he's the most unassuming person I've ever meet we talked about modern music today. He told me to check out a guy called Ren please check him out I think you'll be amazed

Nice! Maybe you could try to do a comparison: «Why Worry» live from Sydney 85 (the long version) first, and then the duet with Emmylou Harris from Real Live Roadrunning (2006) afterwords. Notice the difference in vocal range and clarity after he quit smoking (around 2000).

But please, please, please, this time, start with the album version first (Brother in Arms) *"Your Latest Trick (Remastered 1996)."* The intro is a masterpiece that doesn't find its equal in any live version. Every song from '' On the night '' tour is a piece of art , specially in Basel , Rotterdam , or Nimes (France ) . I try to avoid '' You and your friend'' in particular, cuz too emotional.

This isn't modern, it's 30 years old. How old are you? I'm 72 and have been a fan of Dire Straits since 1978. This is quality rock music. I also like classical, folk, jazz and many other types of music. I would like to know what you consider quality.
