Activity Flow:
1. A 5 vs. 2 is always played in one of the fields
2. The sixth player of the team in possession always stays in the other field and offers himself for an open pass when the field is changed
3. The goal of the exercise is to change fields as often as possible without yellow being able to win the ball
4. The overnumbered team tries to keep the ball and collect passes within one field - after a certain number of passes, the field can be changed
5. The yellow team defends and tries to win the ball
6. After a certain time, replace the two defenders
Organization:
1. 6 cones to set up the two fields
2. Both fields are the same size - about 10x10m
3. Two colors of bibs
4. Dividing the players depending on the total number of players (for 8 players - 6 red and 2 yellow)
5. Place enough balls with the coach
6. Position the players in the field (see image)
Coaching Points:
1. Movement to create space to receive the ball for yourself or a team mate
2. Awareness / Orientation - Before moving to support the player on the ball check over your shoulder to see where the space, opponents and your teammates are on the field
3. Type of Movement - Move in front of an opponent, in to out, out to in, in between or in behind the opponent
4. Deception - Making more movements to move the defender to leave space to receive the ball in
5. Related to Game - competition as a realistic simulation of the game, two players or two teams play against each other with the aim to choose a winner and a loser
6. Direction - The ball and players move in a way that they would in a game. Have goals/targets/areas the players move ball towards.
7. Outcome - Coaches should look to create an environment where every action important and related to a positive or negative outcome. It not a coach shouting or punishing the players but finding ways to reward positive actions and have a consequence or a negative action to encourage the moment to become a learning moment. For example the opponents opportunities to exploit mistakes is an example an outcome.
Variations:
1. Competition focus on the outnumbered team - Which outnumbered team manages the most changes of fields in a certain time?
2. Competition focus on preventing field changes - All players are once in the yellow team - Number of field changes is counted as negative points
3. Competition focus on the yellow team - All players are once in the yellow team - Ball gains of the different yellow teams are compared with each other
4. Place mini-goals around the field as a transition possibility for the yellow team
