This kind of synergy between performer and audience can only be found in Japan Because Japanese during concert will not sing along unless commanded by the artist listening artist singing is sign of respect for them

2023年の最後にワンオクのリアクションしてくれて嬉しいです！！タカに「トモヤ、ピアノ弾いて！」って突然言われたって言ってましたよ😂 このライブ行ってました！集中して聞きたいからみんな静かにしていたし、女性は(もちろん私も)涙を流してました。

For anyone who never knew them before, that is a hard core rock band, they're the Japanese version of freakin' Linkin Park, man! But here, for this performance only, for this special song...they looked like a bunch of overachieving music students. They know themselves well to be able to switch sounds and style for the pleasure of their adoring fans. Taka wrote the song btw ♥️🔥 That is why they are the everlasting reigning Best Rock Band in Japan.

personally enjoy the original version a lot more. they do some really cool things with the song structure with the drums and guitar around Takas singing, but this one definitely sounds more heartfelt with just the piano and guitar solo

I hate people say taka voice is talent . He got out his home when he was 16, and lived by himself with his earning . While living like that , he trained his voice having done so many lives with bands that before he met One Ok rock members . So not talent , it is the diamond that made up by his harsh efforts

Saw them live almost 8-10 years ago and they did this song acoustic with just a guitar. I haven't been to many concerts but this one has been the best by far. And also with Icon for hire opening, chef's kiss

It would be awesome to see you react to more of their older stuff, starting with their most popular song "The Beginning" live at Yokohama stadium Mighty Long Fall tour. Their older stuff sounds more like "Make it out Alive" Something you might find interesting is that when they released their 7th album "Ambitions" they changed their sound to more of a pop rock. They wanted to appeal more towards Western fans. Taka recently said that they're going back to the ONE OK ROCK sound. To get an idea of what their next album will be like just watch the live version of "Make it out Alive.

@@onlymylovable You're correct that Luxury Disease is their 10th album, which is actually the English translation of their 1st album. I must have miscounted, Ambitions is their 8th album. Make it out Alive was actually supposed to be on Ambitions. I heard Taka singing it on the documentary about their 2016 live special at Nagisean. That show is a must see, the crowd is incredible. During Cry Out there's at least a dozen circle pits going on, and You can see like a thousand people headbanging simultaneously.

So you know, you're performance was absurdly from the 2017 Ambitions Japan Tour at Yokohama arena not the 2018 Ambitions Japan Dome Tour that had "We Are" in it. They have a tendency to play this song at a lot of their live shows. There are several songs that they play at most of their shows. One that's a must see and that almost close with or post as an encore is "Kanzen Kankaku Dreamer". At the end of one show Taka average pulled several crowd surfers on stage. You have yet to really hear their rock, hard hard, punk/alt rock stuff.

Let me tell you a few things about One Ok Rock: Toru and Ryoto were childhood friends and were in a hip hop group called “Heads” when they were in high school. Toru is the leader of One Ok Rock and when he wanted to start a band he stalked Taka for months trying to persuade him to be lead singer because he’d heard him perform before. Taka, as a youngster, was in a pop group who performed on tv shows but got kicked out because a picture circulated in a magazine of him in bed with a girl. lol - true story - Japan demands their stars to be dedicated to their art. They aren’t like American performers who have “baby manas” and all that immoral stuff. That’s why Ryota had to marry the woman he was dating when she got pregnant. Taka comes from a very famous family in Japan. Both his parents were popular Enka singers, the music of ancient Japan. Taka says he was bullied in school because his parents were rich and famous. Tomoya is a great family man with a beautiful wife and 3 adorable children. His IG account has sweet pics of him with his kids. Toru got married last year to a beautiful Japanese lady who is a model and actress. Taka is the only single member of the group. He has a younger brother who is also a talented singer and performer in his own rock band called, My First Story. He also has a brother who works for Tokyo tv, one of the major Japanese tv networks. Lastly, Taka brought a 6 million dollar home in California a couple of years ago. I hope he doesn’t lose his Japanese uniqueness and become too Americanized! There’s something so beautiful and wonderful about Japanese culture.❤

Pretty late on here, but I'd like to at least shine a light on the creation and significance of this song from the band: As far as I remember the melody was already created prior, and Taka's friend was getting married at that time so he thought he'd used the melody to create a love song, which ended up being that. That actually ended up being beyond just that: this is ONE OK ROCK's biggest song on the Japanese mainstream to date. It has maintained its' position on Japanese music charts for more than 10 years now, and it just keeps on going. Along with that, why this song is so massively popular in Japan is that this has already become a staple wedding song in the country, it coincidentally ended up as the song which it was originally created for. What you just heard is this song's exclusive rendition for that tour, and it is one of the most beautiful things the band has ever done. Thanks for checking it out Roscoe 🙏🤟
