Yes coke studio has always been live since its inception 15 years ago. It started out in studio setting music and vocals were live recorded its infamous for not having multiple live session until they get a one they think is good enough to present to the audience . each season involves months of practice session , both for musicians, vocalist. Since season 14 they have incorporated the set setting where each set is made and mv filming is according to the mood of the song. You can see the BTS for each song its where the show practice session and explain the sets themes and how song creating process. Personally I liked how they two sides express their love for each other here . The sad song between two lovers well that's Mehram from last year. This year melancholic songs are 2AM and o yara.

The one-take I am in doubt about. There are some shots in Pasoori and Aayi Aayi where the singers have different hairstyles in a split second, and doesn't seem like the same recording.

All of these songs are recorded live. The male singer is singing in Pashto. Rehma is a Los Angeles based Pakistani singer. Obviously, she's singing in English. @@eeejay235 Actually, it's not. For all Coke Studio songs, they practice a few times before the actual shoot. That's what you see in the BTS. The final shoot is recorded live. That is my understanding.

The song is recorded live in same take as the vdieo we see in the song, and thats why they have in-ear monitors...it ofcourse goes through post production editing. This is Pashto song a language spoken in North western Pakistana nd Eastern Afghanistan by Pakhtoons (Pathans). This song as you said does try to cover two people who belong to v different worlds talking to each other, while guy singing in Pashto and is from a area which is v negatively potrayed in the media due to Taliban etc. even thou they are the most hospitable people on earth without a doubt (I am not a Pathan and cant understand the language and culturally different from them being a Punjabi in Pakistan but I can attest and witnesed their hospitability can surpass anyone) and also they have rich vulture of music and art their capital city Peshawar is one of the oldest city in South Asia which was one of the main trade route here and thus people coming and settling from everywhere, Pakistanis are welcoming but Pathans are just on another level, and on other hand girl singing in English probably potraying an outsider or expat and the we listen to their dialogues.

Coke Studio songs are most definitely recorded live. I would suggest watching the Magical Journey BTS videos that accompany all their songs to get an in-depth view into the whole process right from the inception of the song to the set design, costumes and everything in between.

They usually have one take audio and video with post production. At least season 14 was one take video and audio. They may have loosened it up now to multiple tapes because that is a hard one to pull off
