"The Play That Goes Wrong" by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and Henry Shields of Mischief Theatre Company says it all with the title. This is an ode to all the theatre artists out there and the nightmares that haunt their dreams. This clip comes from the performance at the Royal Variety Show.

Max wasn't just acting his first time on stage, he bowed because this is from the royal variety performance, so he saw the queen and bowed! We stan a gentleman (also you did an amazing job of analysing this as a director! I'd love to see you analyse Peter Pan/Christmas Carol Goes Wrong as well as their tv series!)

Just a slight correction, Prince Harry was the Royal who attended this performance in 2015. The Queen’s last RVP was 2012.

Greg Tanahill (the guy who plays the dead Charles, the dead body) is known within Mischief Theatre (the fantastic group behind this show) as the king of doing nothing. All of his characters either don't get to do their part to it's full potential or it is just a generally smaller part (most of the time both)

Saw this in Dublin, brilliant. I was a stage manager ( once ). Had everything down to a tee - props, script for actors on/ actors off. Everything. The show was Rope, and it began with thirty seconds of darkness. The thirty seconds came and went, and then someone whispered in my ear: where are the actors? I calmly replied - they’ll be here. But my brain was going .. I forgot the fking actors! I forgot the fking actors!!! I went upstairs, and quietly said to the two actors who were due to take to the stage .. lads, in your own time. Five minutes of darkness later, they made their entrance. My daughter was in that night, and about three minutes into the darkness she looked at the programe, and seeing my name and job, she whispered to the person who was with her: I bet ya me da’s responsible for this :). Something I enjoy about the play that goes wrong is the fact they did backstage videos as the actor characters. Also during lock down they did reactions to season 1 of the goes wrong show and shared a lot of what went into making them

I love these guys, this is a royal variety show performance, annual celebration of performers that year, i think they had two stage show going at the time

I enjoyed your discussion, you absolutely do need to see the whole play, this excerpt really had so much cut for TV, with a couple of cameos which felt out of place. If you can see "The Comedy about a Bank Robbery" by the same Company it's also splendid, a mix of wordplay, performance, and physicality

I was once in a play where the theatre lost power. I was onstage at the time, in the middle of a song when this happened. Since the lights were controlled by a computer, we had to wait for the coputer to boot back up and then cycle through all the light cues to the point we were at before we could proceed. When I finally got off stage, a kid who was in the show ran up to us and said, "did you see the power went out?" We were already laughing and that made us laugh more.

You had the sound so low from the play, that I never heard a word of it. You I could hear, even tho it could have been a little louder, but the dialogue from the play was like a whisper. Couldn't make out one word.
