DIRECTV Genie DVR Review | Its Two Best (and worst) Features

It sucks. All the boxes are linked. Everybody sees and has to deal with everybody’s recordings. The whole house shares about 2 dvrs worth of memory. Instead of just having to deal with your own scheduling conflicts, it’s the whole house. The whole house can record up to 5 shows at once, but we had 4 dvrs before and could record 8 before. Who the hell wants everys stuff all jumbled together? It’s not an upgrade, it’s backwards.

I didn't want Genie, t hey installed it anyway, it was awful. It turns itself off every four hours, and the turn off function is supposed to give you back full contol so you can use it to keep your dog company. doesn't work. It hums, it has an anoying blue panel, and many features that I do not want of need. Not enough space to tell all.
