Anyone who lives in the northeast or mid-Atlantic should be concerned about the upcoming pattern. This favors not just warmer weather, but exceptionally dry conditions for the long run. The ongoing drought will likely become dire in February-April.

The set up for spring in the southeast has me concerned. A flip to La Niña combined with southwest drought conditions and some increased winter weather down here is very similar to how 2011 started. I'm not trying to say some disastrous superoutbreak will repeat, but the set up does shout an eventual shift to some significant severe weather.

Now that I have lived in the Northeastern states for the last 5 years I can say the winters here are weak and short, nothing like I perceived it to be. Valdeze here I come!!!

The whole continental weather pattern has changed. You'd have to go farther northeast to Canada now to get long winters with deep snow. That or move to Hokaido jpn lol

@@RisenandRisen When I was a kid in the 80s, we would get a ton of snow. Snowsuits & boots were a must have as were sleds. We’d spend all our time outside playing in the snow, sledding and building igloos out of plow piles. The last good snows I remember were 1993 - I was in 8th grade and we had so many snow days to make up that year because each storm would close schools for 3 days. 1996 had one good snow in December. Then there was nothing for years and years. Maybe a dusting here and there. It only started snowing a lot again around 2013/2014. We never had a “polar vortex” until recently. Now it’s becoming a regular thing.

@SkipperXoOo Hmm ok so I wasn't just imagining things. The winters on the East Coast really were pretty intense. Interesting that there was that much of a snow drought for that time. Maybe my perception is off then 🤔
@SkipperXoOoКүн бұрын
@ East coast weather is weird. As a kid I remember snowy winters and rainy springs. From about 2002-2013 there was literally NO snow. Nothing measurable at least. I would watch the ski place try to make snow as we drove by it but it never stuck. I even stopped buying snow boots.

Seeing rain over south western PA makes me so freaking depressed. We havent had a huge snow storm here in so long. We keep just getting these small amounts of snow. It's such a tease. I will say at least we've had more snow where I am this year than we've had in a long time but still not anything like what we use to here.
