I made a piece almost identical to this about a year ago in all steel (right down to the CA glue magnetic latches. Difference is I made the cabinet first, then had to fit the doors to it. This makes so much more sense. Thank you.

Rochester native here, so I’m a little bias. I’m at a crossroads right now, seriously debating getting into wood working or metalworking. I’m a cult follower of both Frank Howarth (wood) and Jimmy Diresta. After months of debating, this project is my tipping point. Thank you Jimmy.

Man, I love it. There is two persons who gave me the desire to quit my job and do my stuff, my grandfather and you, I'm still learning things from you, and I'm working at my grandfather old shop. Thank you for that.

Using plywood to square up the doors is a pretty slick idea. I wouldn't have thought of that. Very cool build Jimmy.

Paul Frederick it was fair criticism! I wasn't having ago but he's been welding for years, he should of got a better by practising or the loads of followers/ coworkers who could show him a trick or two. anyway I wasn't trolling I was just giving my opinion not criticising his work... he does make some really cool stuff :)

Awesome, I noticed you don't grind the mill scale off. I'm always torn on that step. The patina I use doesn't take unless I do. I'll have to look into the product you used. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

serious question, just curious if having the shopvac sucking at the weld, wouldn't that distort or eliminate the shielding gas and possibly affect the weld?

I'm curious. I've seen a number of people use stick welding, but you seem to use mig and tig welding exclusively. What goes into the decision to use one welding technology over another?

Jimmy, it's always fun to recognize a past project/video from the scraps and things used in another. For instance, the bit around 2:45, the table you're sanding on was used for your tool tote. Awesome stuff. Been a subscriber for a long time, love your project videos so much!
