Can't go wrong with flat fenders. They look great on a TJ, the last true generation of Jeep, that they look right on.

I got a tj a couple months back for 600 bucks, ran and drove perfectly but needed the fenders and floorboard replaced and I just got a set of poison spyder fenders for 150 and I’ve been following your videos on tips and tricks. I love your videos!

Tell me about it, I was quite set on building my own fenders but couldn’t say no to these. Occasionally finding used parts like this is probably the only upside to living in a part of the country where road salt destroys our vehicles. Thank you, and same to you.

This is the first vid I didn't like; nothing you did, except buy those ugly fenders! Best thing was seeing the fenders off, exposing some paintable surfaces!!!! I prefer the stock fenders, they just look nicer. I'm in Canada and have no intention of rock climbing or needing extreme articulation, so stock would be fine with me. I get why you did, so great job!!!!

I love the metal cloaks / Gen rite as well but damn that price tag kills me. Good score on finding these for such a good price.
@dironaa
@dironaa 3 жыл бұрын
I hear that! If they weren’t so expensive metalcloaks would have been the first thing to go on this jeep. The added clearance is hard to beat!

@Deadfeat
@Deadfeat 3 жыл бұрын
@@dironaa you killed it for $150. I did get the 6" flairs, they cover 35s on the wider front 44 scout axle. Passes inspection just fine. If you want a Scrambler, you might pay a lot. Prices on old rare 4x4s are skyrocketing. Have seen CJ8s sell in the $40k range, and basket cases for $7-10k
@dironaa
@dironaa 3 жыл бұрын
@@Deadfeat The prices these days are insane. Hopefully the “vintage” 4x4 market cools down at some point in the near future, otherwise I don’t ever see owning one. Even the LJs seem to be climbing in price and those are only 15 years old.

Your OEM fenders looked great. Why make the change if you aren't getting extra clearance for bigger tires?
@dironaa
@dironaa 3 жыл бұрын
There are a lot of trees on the trails where I live, the OEM fenders would have eventually been smashed. The new fenders are more durable

I had to replace one speed nut on the manifold that holds the exhaust pipe on. From the dealership $6 for the speed nut and $6.10 for the bolt. Couldn't find them at Ace or Lowes. Great build. Any plans on going to TJ Fest on Moab this spring?
@dironaa

Ouch! I couldn’t find these speed nuts at Ace either, ended up ordering a bulk pack of them off of eBay and now have a few spares for next time. Would love to get out to TJ Fest but unfortunately don’t see being able to make it happen this year

Love the videos! Have a ‘97 4.0L that I’ve been working on that sat in a driveway for a long time. Do you have any brake issues? What about engine noise - like rocker noise?
@dironaa
@dironaa 3 жыл бұрын
Cool! Technically no brake issues, but the brakes could use improvement with the 33s the jeep is running now. Rocker noise isn’t bad on this one but the last jeep I owned had over 200k and the rockers had so much play it sounded like a diesel. Never gave any issues, just a little noisy.

I see that you’re running 33s and a 1.25 body lift. What did you end up having for a suspension lift?
@dironaa
@dironaa 3 жыл бұрын
Still on stock suspension. Hope to keep the stock springs and only upgrade the shocks but we’ll see how it sits when the build is done and the jeep is loaded down with gear. Trimming the stock flares goes a long way toward gaining clearance.

How did you paint those? Are they color matched with your Jeep? My Jeep has a rotted fender which is easy, i just don't know how/where to get it painted. I'd like to save some $$ by doing it myself but at the same time don't want it looking like crap
@dironaa
@dironaa 3 жыл бұрын
Used rustoleum gloss black paint from Walmart, so not technically color matched but they came out close (upside to having a black jeep...downside is all the visible scratches). I painted them outside so there are certainly some imperfections from dust blowing in the wind, but for the $ spend I’m happy with the results. If you want an OEM quality finish I’d definitely recommend going to a body shop to have them painted.
@bdc7273
@bdc7273 3 жыл бұрын
@@dironaa yea my Jeep is also black. I may end up going to a body shop even though I really don't want to since I would be getting oem fenders and it would look strange to have them look different from the rest. Yours turned out amazing though. The gloss looks great.
