FYI. In indonesia, especially at traditional market every seller has special price in the morning when they just open their shops. We call "penglaris pertama" which means if there's a 1st buyer in the morning it'll be their lucky day

It's hard to imagine feeling comfortable bargaining quite this hard with people who need the money so much more than you do. (Wasn't that a point you made in another video, or am I misremembering?) The way I see it, one of the few chances tourists have to balance out the negative impacts of tourism (e.g., depleting water resources, contributing to pollution and carbon footprints) is getting more money directly into the hands of people in developing countries. If a price is truly too high for you, you don't have to buy. But the pride some visitors take in their ability to squeeze local merchants for the most extreme low prices seems... misplaced.

Just got back from Bali. When I was at the market I just asked what the price was and then walked away. Usually they'll stop you and ask you what you'd be willing to pay. I always just offered half and if they didn't agree I'd just walk to the next stall cause all the stalls practically sell the same thing. All in all, Bali is a cool place, but can't stand the strong stench of petrol fumes.

The woman at 3:22 is a complete witch - she was SO rude to several customers while we shopped the market. I wouldn’t buy any roundie bags from Bali. The quality is poor and the prices are expensive. They were ALL rough and many sellers would say the straps are real leather - in which they are NOT. Go to Vietnam and you can get better quality roundies for a few US dollars less than 150k IDR. I got mine for $8USD (200k VND) regular size.

$1x10 items x4 times during the trip is $40. We payed 150 for the apartment for the month and $50 for the scooter so if we do save $1 each time that gets us a free scooter at the end of the month.
