Bali is so many things to so many different people. However, I believe the truly unique aspect of Bali is it's culture. Sure it has nice beaches, volcanoes, waterfalls, marine wildlife, surfing spots, nightclubs, resorts and cafes, but the most unique and visit worthy aspect is Balinese culture. The dances, music, painting, sculptures, village traditions, wet agriculture, story-telling still thrive in an authentic setting. Unlike Cambodia's Angkor Wat, Peru's Macchu Picchu, Burma's Bagan and Java's Borobudur or Egypt's Pyramids, the Balinese culture that created the rich architecture is still alive. Whereas the Incas, Khmers, Burmese and Javanese are not 'living' in the culture that created all those architectural wonders, the Balinese are.

Have been going to Ubud for over 30 years. It has changed enormously in that time but I continue to treasure my trips there. Good selection of highlights - Kafe, Campuhan Ridge walk, Mt Batur, Saraswasti Temple. Note that there is a restaurant of many years standing which fronts on to the temple and its lotus pond called The Lotus. Good food both Balinese and Western and an excellent place to view dance performances at the temple.

I did enjoy watching this, lovely. I am very glad that you did so much in Ubud! Yes I am with you on that Ubud is my kind of place as well, as it feels "quieter" and much more grounding. I agree that I'd rather to focus lesser places than moving so quickly. Enjoy Nusa Penida ❤

If Alina lived there or anywhere in southeast Asia, she would be happy because housing and other elements of the cost of living are low and quite affordable. In the West, $30-50 meals with drinks in a restaurant are now a thing. And renting a decent place in a safe neighbourhood can literally cost an arm and a leg. Our inflationary times.

Wow watching your video is kindly reminder of our honeymoon in Ubud. My husband and I stayed in Ubud for 5 days and our resort was close to some of attraction places. 5 minutes walk to monkey forest, 10 minutes walk to Ubud Palace and Saraswasti temple and 30 minutes walk to Campuhan Ridge walk. We went hike to Mt Batur as well where I broke my knees and had my husband carried me through our walk down the mountain lol. It was such great experience and can't wait to come back and visit Bali. By the way Bali is like my hometown because I grew up there and having come back to where I grew up is awesome feelings

Hi Alina. I loved your video. It shows a lot of what Ubud is really like and not much has changed when I was last there in 1997. I stayed at the Tempuah Spa Resort and it was magical. The resort is literally entirely carved onto the side of s ravene, with water falls and caves for our rooms. Meditation music and incense sticks all over too. Ubud is truly the heart of Balinese culture and very peaceful. Thanks again.

Hi Alina , Ubud is really awesome and promising and it has a lot common with the country i belong. Let me tell you something the monkeys are really beautiful and i like them. I have also been personally atacked by monkey's but despite that i really adore them. I just love the temples and the spirituality they evoke in our mind. So aesthetic and so soothing for the mind and body. Wow the food is so similar to our country as our food are also spicy and delicious. All i can say is that this place is a home away from home, far from the madding crowd.

Hi Alina, Guest house is so pretty and luxury with cheap price with internet facility. It's also great to have wide range of breakfast menu. Mexican wrap is looking a sound extra tasty. Monkeys are really so cute and lovely. You are precious when you are guiding the upcoming visitors to take care the instructions how to behave in monkeys park. Main city temple is so calm and an amazing place. Also, like the strip design of your skirt so cute and your personality is like princes. Your meal is so comprehensive to take. To take the picture on the game in the temple is smart idea. I always like to go on hiking so it is wonderful to be the part of your tour. Valcano sight is so unique and like it. Over all, this video is on top in any aspect. Gives score of 10/10.

Many thanks Alina for this interesting video about Ubud, there's so much to see indeed as you said that this video gives just a taste of it, I agree one can spend months in Bali and still discover amazing places any day. For those who prefer to avoid the busy Ubud center, there are many options just out of town with great rooms overlooking paddy fields, with daily views on Batur and Agung. There a scooter will be a must to get around. Candidasa more on the eastern coast is another great location to explore the countryside, small desa, incredible temples and secluded beaches. Direct contact with villagers in the valleys who rarely see Westeners is usually rewarding as Balinese know what hospitality really means, lots of smiles guaranteed ! Being lucky to be fluent in Bahasa and familiar with many islands of Indonesia, it's wonderful to meet and discuss with so many people so spontaneously. Indonesia lovers can't help returning to Bali time and again...
