How about a walk around and start up of this M715 before it goes on a final drive?
The Jeep M715 is a classic military truck, and this one has had many adventures so far. However this big truck is now headed off to new trails in Texas.
This truck was rescued and built on a few different Dirt Ever Day episodes and it grew from a retired service truck into a great trail truck, but there is still more that can be done. The only piece of drivetrain that is original is the T98 4-speed. The new parts are a tired Chevy straight 6, NP205 transfer case, and Dana 60 & 70 axles.
Some upgrades I recommend are the Bestop trailmax seats,
www.bestop.com/products/trail...
and the Cascadia 4x4 solar battery charger,
www.cascadia4x4.com
as well as the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss tires.

I definitely have seller's regret on some things, but in all honesty, we're both out there enough where we'll see some "new thing" that catches our eye, we'll have room for it, we'll acquire it, and we'll have continuing adventures. It's all good.

In the late 90's I owned a 1981 Chevy P30 with a 292 straight 6 with 1 barrel carb. Used to to deliver bread with it. I would go in to load up the truck but the first procedure was to pump the gas about 12 times then turn over the engine attempting to start but it never would. Then load the truck for about 30 minutes until ready to leave for the route. The truck would then start again after pumping the gas about 12 times. The truck was great for the rest of the day, shutting off at each stop then barely bumping the starter and it ran like "an old sewing machine". One of the many old vehicles I wish I would have kept.

I had an M715 that I made way too nice and big, and then didn't want to tear it up. Sold it instead. I think what you guys did upgrading the axles, etc was a great start. Get a reliable engine and a roll cage, and go use it. I also liked the dumpster you guys did a few years back. I love the old military stuff. Keep building Fred. Love to see what's next.

the reason for the starting issue is a bad mechanic, The carb needs rebuilt is all. My 74 C 10 with the same motor never failed me from day one.I sold it 6 years ago and the new owner is still running the straight 6 with no issues .
