All though we all know these are rare cleaners, I am left wondering if you know just how rare this particular version is. Up until 1995, these cleaners were sold in the UK as dirty air machines, and were infamous for having the fans and fan casings shattering. The design was later changed to clean air, and these cleaners were sold through Argos in 1996, but were dropped very quickly. The blank moulding on the top of the bag door is where the original dirty air model had an air vent - originally there was an air vent and filter at the top on each side.

Hello! No I wasn't aware it was anything more than quite rare in the usual dirt devil 90s way! That's cool, thanks for the info! The owner just picked it up because it was local to him and looked cool and was cheap, the 3 things that make for an easy vac pickup! I'll pass the info on, thanks!

I didn't know they made these as a clean air system in this style. Ours in America like the Plus XF, Classic, Profile and toughmate were direct air systems.

My friend had one and shortly after purchase she vacuumed up a coin and it broke a vane on the fan so got dumped. You are correct, never seen one of these for many year's!!

Sounds like the bearings on the motor might need a bit of Greece. Love the sound

Royal/Dirt Devil used that brushroll in almost all their fill sized uprights in the early 90's. Was the last shred of quality that Dirt Devil had!

A Dirt Devil vacuum cleaner like this would have been sold in Walmart or Kmart stores. A cheap throwaway vacuum cleaner indeed.

if the wheels are easily removed, plastic soda straws will take up the wheel play.
