Please check out the live v. on their myspace page. Sound quality and mix/mastering is not as good, but the energy is exhilarating. DPR has been one of my fav bands for years.

Dirt Poor Robins are amazing. Attention to all-they have a new album out now! It's called Last Days of the Leviathan, and it's great.

I found them through Church, Neil Robins plays sometimes in our Church band. He also writes some of the music that's played. This cover is so good.

Wouldn't have found this awesome group without the help of NMK. This version of Eleanor Rigby kicks ass.

It's not a copy, it's something called a remake. A lot of musical artists make remakes.

This is the only cover that they did, and it is VERY original. It sounds refreshingly different than the original.

This is an obvious troll from eight months ago, but fuck it. To start, the Beatles were not in the least bit cynical, and they had a huge reputation for being optimistic and cheerful, Elanor Rigby being something of a black sheep song for them. The song itself isn't about commenting on darkness, it's about painting a detailed picture of two people with minimal detail, and it's meant to create emotion, not make a point.
@dndnerd123411 жыл бұрын
Honestly? A little bit. Especially in saying "They wrote sad music! Obviously cynical!" "Imagine" especially, which is an incredibly hopeful song about a possible perfect world. And of course they wrote some of their songs to make money. Money is nice, and wanting it doesn't make you a cynic, especially not if you're pouring your heart out in other songs. As for the heart and head working together, what about instrumentals? Not a single coherent thought to be found (excepting music theory).

I'm not trolling. Whether you're talking about "Yesterday" or "Imagine" or too many of their songs, or McCartney's admission that some of their songs were written only to make money, or even their personal lives, there's simply no question of their being cynical. Also--what does it mean to make an emotion and not a point. The heart and the head always work together. Always. No such thing as love without truth, or truth without love. Do I still sound like a troll? ;l
