Colin McRae: Dirt (Dirt in North America) is a racing video game developed and published by Codemasters for Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It is the sixth game in the Colin McRae Rally series and the last of the series to be published before Colin McRae's death. It features new graphics, audio, physics engine, new vehicles and a new game engine which was co-developed between Codemasters and Sony Computer Entertainment. The game features a variety of off-road racing categories as well as World Rally Championship style events. The game was released for the PlayStation 3 in Europe on 14 September 2007, prior to Colin McRae's death. The sequel, Colin McRae: Dirt 2, was released in September 2009.

Colin McRae: Dirt 2 (Dirt 2 in North America) is a racing video game developed and published by Codemasters for PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, Wii, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS, Microsoft Windows and OS X. It is the seventh game in the Colin McRae Rally series.
It is the first game in the McRae series since McRae's death in 2007. It was announced on 19 November 2008 and features Ken Block, Travis Pastrana, Tanner Foust, and Dave Mirra. The game includes many new race-events, including stadium events. Along with the player, an RV travels from one event to another, and serves as "headquarters" for the player. It features a roster of contemporary off-road events, taking players to diverse and challenging real-world environments. The game takes place across four continents: Asia, Europe, Africa and North America. The game includes five different event types: Rally, Rallycross, "Trailblazer", "Land Rush" and "Raid". In September 2011, there were reports that a network security problem on the website of an AMD promo had resulted in the loss of 3 million Dirt 3 keys to the public for use via the Steam platform that have then been posted in various places around the internet.

Dirt 2 and 3 were amazing. So much content, such good graphics, and a lot of fun. Today, if you're a Sim fan, you have Dirt Rally, but Dirt 4 was a step back. Something was lost.

I agree .. Dirt 4 though wasn't supposed to be a sim but they tried to make it sim-arcadish after a lot of complaining about how hard dirt rally is for beginners .. Dirt 4 feels broken if you play it as a sim! They tried to bring the sharm of "Grid race driver" with the garage and sponsors and all but they failed to do it! Full FIA RallyCross licence is a big PLUS in the game though! Other than that, it is still fun to play!

@@nogamesnolife-4470 mine is not powerful just low specs and also the mod is just a small change in values of post processing file. so it won't have impact on performance. If you want il e-mail you the post processing effect file. You just have to backup the original "effects" file from post processing folder and then just replace the file i send you. The game looks amazing without the green filter.

Dirt Rally 1 is the best by far, Dirt 2 was also amazing for the atmosphere, soundtrack and X-games style with stars like Ken Bloc (RIP), Travis Pastrana, Tanner Foust, Dave Mirra (RIP), If Codemasters/EA remastered CMR Dirt 2 would be great.

Most are just jumping the bandwagon just to feel belonged that's why. When in reality they probably didn't even play Dirt 4 In my opinion, Dirt 4 was no different than Dirt 2 or 3 in terms of driving physics, yet everyone is saying that Dirt 2 and 3 were epic but Dirt 4 was garbage. "It's too arcade for me blah blah" as if Dirt 2 or 3 weren't just as arcade. I agree that Dirt 4 was a tad bit boring sometimes, lack of content probably, whereas Dirt 2 had Travis as your guide sort of speaking, better presentation of the game as well as content. But in no way was it better or more real in terms of driving physics. That's why we have Dirt Rally, which is for hardcore sim drivers. Dirt 2 had a story to it, so that's why people liked it and that's why they remember it the most. But we are talking about racing games here, and racing itself in Dirt 4 was on point, nothing wrong with it, exactly the same (if not better) than the previous Dirt series (excluding Rally series). That's like playing a Flight Simulator and saying :"You know what, l didn't like the way houses looked on the ground while l was flying in the air." Well, it's a FLIGHT SIMULATOR, what do you expect? Same goes for Dirt series, l play them because of the racing factor, which is great in Dirt 4, not because of the trees around the road or "story".

I still play dirt4 but that game was a missed opportunity. They had a great idea with the track-generation system but never committed to it fully so it feels repetitive, unrealistic and boring by comparison to the stages from other games. The career feels rather bland and most of the locations don't bring any real change or variety to the senses. Everything feels the same unlike the older games where they had dramatic difference between say a location in Japan and another one all the way down in Morocco. The race modes/disciplines are shamefully lazy and all the same and the physics with the crosskarts are insufferably bad
