Great comparison video. Currently dialing in a 40 hr 2018 TE 300 I just picked up. Greasing all the bearings, throwing on a spare set of Brembo brakes, a Recluse slave on the clutch and up sizing springs front and rear.

while your at it maybe get rid of that stock linkage and swap it to a sx/sxf/xc style linkage. the stock knuckle on that te setup is an enduro specific style linkage and it really overloads the front end of the bike. The link arm is the same between all models, but that knuckle is a tricky one. Also be careful with the stock open chamber forks, they like to dive drastically and the linkage exacerbates that. They like to toss ya over the front if your charging something. If your at enduro rock crawling speeds the stock linkage is great. No need to change but if your at desert speeds you will appreciate the change. I have an 18 te 300 and a 19 tx300 and have spent entirely too much figuring that little fact out. Hope it helps you get it setup, one of the best bikes ktms ever produced imo. cheers

Interesting, I actually have a full swing arm assembly for a 2018 450sx I converted to a snowbike a couple winters ago, sold the snowbike but kept all the take off parts. I actually have a Lucky MX Tech kit to put in the forks. The Explor 48 stuff from 17/18/19 was terrible.
@user-mo8tm4jw2l16 күн бұрын
@@andyd5515 yep that will be a great setup. I would take the knuckle out of that old 450 setup and toss it on the 300. You’ll be rockin and rollin. At that point it’s basically a TX with a more mellow engine. I absolutely adore my 18 te. Full kyb conversion on forks. Mx tech tank on the shock with the 450 moto style linkage. I have a national shock and blackjack inserts in my 19 tx. The bikes are both extremely capable. The 19 is rowdy and leans toward moto, worcs/ngpc style races and the 18 is an absolute dream for woods or enduro stuff. Both mine run rk tek heads, port timings been moved a bit with base gaskets and toss on a good 36/39 taper bored keihin. They run flawlessly. Can’t ask for better. Enjoy that bike dude. They’re sweet as hell.

I have a 19 300xc. I run the 36mm keihin. The. Bike works great. I use the map switch. I don’t see many people using it. It’s an optional part from KTM. RMATV has a version and it works great too. You can just unplug the wire under the gas tank, but the bar switch is way easier, and it allows you to switch back-and-forth. It really tones the bike down for trails or hard sections.

I have Tpi 300 with 330 hours and not a single issue. I race Enduros with a ton of other tpi bikes with 300, 400, 500 hours. In my experience, issues with TPIs are way overblown on the internet.

2017 TX 300 with Lectron, Powerdial, Kreft Revalve Control, and much more. I'm 59 yrs old and ride and race hare scrambles, enduro and endurance races. I likely won't ever get a new bike. I have ridden many other bikes and can't find any that are better for what I do, just different.

I will say my 2023 Beta 300 carby is a handful. Intense, touchy, and unpredictable, it can fly off the handle at a moments notice….Typical Italian, and I love it. I find almost every fuel injected bike is easier to ride slow in the technical stuff but I’m always faster on my Beta. That snappy carby feel is way more intense. Top end is very similar on both carb and FI. I actually find, if I tune it perfectly crisp, it’s just too…crispy? Especially in the lower range. I ride mostly single track with some open dual track here in North Eastern Ontario Canada. Cheers!

I just replaced my 2017 300XC to a new TBI 250XC and it feels not only lighter but the crispness of the throttle is light and day.

Just to be clear, it was 2023 when the gnarly TBI XC motor came out for KTM, not 2024... Also, at 2:23 if the fan comes on it doesn't mean you're overheating the engine, it just means you've reached the temp you've set on the fan or if controlled by the ECU and the fan keeps it from overheating... TBI for the win. Carb is amazing.

Love my TBI SX 300 in the woods. 100 hours since April and still on the same plug. Hasn't missed a beat. Only negative is they took the kicker away. I still don't understand that one.

Great video but seems like an odd choice to not include tpi and talking about the reliability issues. Seems just as many or more people are having low hours failures on the tbis.
@abj560915 күн бұрын
I agree to skip the TPI. It was a generation I'm sure KTM tries to forget. On top of reliability issues, they just didn't feel right and every engine was a little different.

For offroad TBI wins. Moto the old carb models were better. I own an 18, 22 and 24. For moto the 24 is a bit too mellow especially down low, mapping feels like it's tad too rich down low

TBI needs mods just to get it right. No thanks. I'll keep the low end on my carbd Sherco. Plus KTMS are mostly made in China. Like there pistons etc. Hard Pass.
@jeffdacey467315 күн бұрын
All you guys saying ktm is china made might want to do research on all other bikes using china to build parts for there bikes. Everyone uses china for something just fyi. Do homework before just jumping on here typing wtf ever you want to also your Sherco is junk for sure. They might who company wide sell as many bikes at ktm sells 50cc bikes lmao

@dirtbiketv1 I know enough to know, that I don't know as much as Jay Clark I was just heavily confused on the part where you eliminated the oil injection for the IMS tank. I will say I follow your advice all i can but I must say the R50 caused me to foul several spark plugs on the east coast in the winter as the flash point of that oil is over double what ktm recommends on my 23 XC 300.
