Brilliant job Team DirtBoss! Good to see the setup from start to finish. Marking out, and then building up the pad with crusher run. A lot of people would not know where to start with a job like this. Now they know. Achieving that accuracy and finish is however, very difficult. Your years of experience shows. Them Mossies though- they look brutal trying to eat your camera and all...

I have laid these by hand (well...a rake and shovel) for 24 years off the back of my 3 ton single axle dumptruck in rural nc. I compact it with my dumptruck tires and truth be told most of my work is repairing driveways. I long ago gave up on abc and do layers of various sizes of drainage rocks followed by layers of screenings and 78 m. My son and i built a road through a swamp with layers that began with class one riprap and ended up over 160 three ton loads later with screenings and 78 m.....and it carries tractor trailers with no problem. My geologist wife used lasers to level our 50 ton pool pad but only got it level when i raked it out by hand. Gravel is not rocket science but it is more of an experience based art form than a techically precise craft. I love working the stuff, it looks like you do too. Each job is a puzzle to be solved and when you get done you have created something....contractors never understand this! Good luck in your business.

Your 22 tons per load works out to just over 16 cubic yards loose volume, may be a little over weight? What can that truck legally haul in New York? Here it would be only 14 CYs and dry dirt at that. 500 views in first 45 minuets not bad at all. Little Dirt Boss good job.

I'm in a similar situation with my project, and I'm doing the same thing he's doing in this video. Reason for not cutting from the high and building up the low in my case is because I'd be cutting below grade creating a below grade building pad. And even if I were to do this and build up with gravel, it's still going to take the same amount of gravel regardless to get the whole pad above grade. Plus filling with gravel and compacting ensures a stable base, whereas building up with topsoil on one end runs the risk of future settlement. Its expensive, but buy once cry once. Hope that kinda explains it.
