As I'm watching this go down, I can feel the pain of that weight and the worry of what happens when it slips. I have a, shiny with oil, yellow nylon rope with a looped end for this exact purpose. You can tie it to something above and let it down a little at a time. You are awesome, great video. Thank you for your help on this.

You are spot on sir. I had a customer that had the ceramic plungers go bad and it was $30k ..The miles were at 125k but THE HOURS WERE AT 8500 so that equate to 350k to 400k. The truck was 6 years old.. So NO WARRANTY. God Bless you sir.

With all the little fiddling and jockeying of things, sure wish I could have been there to help, but you sure got it. And I was so proud of you seeing those gloves on - two times, no less. Greetings boss of dirt....wow...that was quite a task...congratulations d honestly you did a really good job....I would offer you a small suggestion that in the future repairs..it’s always easier to clean it up with some brake clean and compressed air..you are absolutely rite to be concerned about any debris getting inside your fuel system

And fyi on the ISX the fuel pump and air compressor have to be timerd with the crank shaft and harmonic balance ...cummings is uses the harmonic balancer ,air compressor and fuel pump for dampening vibration on the crankshaft ..its OK to be one gear tooth off but no more or simply put it will let the crank shaft vibrate beyond acceptable levels and it will over time destroy the crank bearings .

For fuel pump the timing tool is needed but if its not available all I do is put the timing mark at a 45 degree angel towards the middle of engine if you are looking at the gear it should have a mark or a 0 that is what I always put at a 10 o'clock or 1030 u will feel it when it sits just right of course have the damper at the insert pin mark and u will be good

@@Eljuancho915 air compressor is timed also ..well for my 2010 isx .. When u buy a new air compressor it has the timing mark on the gear and typically will be etched in the gear and have white paint on it ..im 100% the engine has to be pinned and the timing mark gos at 12 o'clock on the compressor

Love your spirit man love the do it yourself attitude! Don’t want to sound like a KIA but let that lift pump fill your filter Cummins does not recommend pre filling , you can introduce dirt into the fuel system which can cause damage to those plungers in the pump as well as stick an injector open among other things. Have a good one!

I know this video is 3 years old but I have a question when it comes to the gasket. At 24:57 you put the gasket in place and slide the fuel pump into the hole. Would it be possible to slide the gasket over the gear and then put the fuel pump in the hole to reduce the chance of cutting the rubber with the gear? Just researching because I have a very small leak and I'm thinking about tackling this job.

My truck had the same one fuel pump like yours, oil leaks at the same spot. I tried to replace the gasket, but the fuel pump gear had moved when I removed the pump. Trying to set the pump’s timing so many time, but not luck. Do you have any way how to set timing on the pump? Thanks for your help.

Does not make sense if the ceramic breakes it will go in the entire engine. What are the oil and fuel filters for? Would it stop any debris from entering the engine

I wonder how bad business will be this year. What I gather from listening to various you tube shows and talking to bankers it will be far worse then the 2007-2010 down turn. Hope everyone has a pile of cash saved up to get through it. Should be a lot of good auction values on good equipment again.

Bryan its my belief that if you dont catch the fuel pump soon enough it flakes apart and puts ceramic pieces throughout the engine and destroys the bearings.. is that what happened to you?

The fuel pump isn’t timed, it’s not a timed pump it’s electric there’s no need to time anything with the air compressor or fuel pump.
@DIRT-BOSS
@DIRT-BOSS 10 ай бұрын
Do your research yes there is on the update there is a timing schematic which makes the pump quieter
