I would run the m3 for corn harvest and set the L2 up for just beans and wheat. And the track machine for the harvest of no man's land. Those three gleaners sure make for a diverse and incredibly dam good setup for any crop and any conditions. That M3 looks nasty with the duals and black paint

Back in the 80's when it was so extremely wet, dairy farmers use to put up high moisture corn, nobody could move. There was a guy that had an M2 with duals like yours has, 4wd and it has the 426 engine rather then the 301. On Gleaners you can rotate the finals for more clearance, he rotated his and when nobody could move he could. The ruts you could bury bodies in, but he was unstoppable.

My dad burnt out two clutches one year in the L2. My uncle took it out and ran one wheel in the last rut. Only picked 3 rows, but didn't burn out the clutch.

Love the old Gleaners. Dad had many. A,C,G,M,N6, N7. We had the last three all at the same time. I think there was one day we were all cutting beans together. Got rid of all of them and had a newer R52 for about 15 years.

You probably know this already but the book shows how to set that fan choke opening. I'm going off memory but I believe it gives you a measurement off the bell crank on the outside right of the machine. At least that's how my F2 is anyway. I think my choke needs adjusted too because I'm running mine pretty high like 7 in corn. Book shows 5-6. Its clean corn though.

I saw your video about picking corn with the M3. I worked on gleaners for about 25 years. I loved working on these machines. I didn't work on that many M's or L's, mostly everything from A's to F3's. I don't know if you have fixed the air problem yet. My suggestion would be to check the fan opening setting to make sure it is matching what the gauge is reading in the cab. Sometimes operators would crank it too far one way or the other hoping it would get more or less air depending on which way it was cranked. The lever on the end of the fan baffle could be bent, so when the gauge says you are wide open you might not be half open! Also another problem I saw many times was the fins on the squirrel cage fans were not clean! This has a serious effect on air output. Of course debris in the chutes leading up to the seives could be blocking air flow. Also check the belt. Let me know if this was helpful! Check and see if your sound deading mat is still under your rubber floor mat.

The M3 doesn't have the horsepower of a L2 or 3, so it its not going to do what a L can. Changing filters on a machine right after buying it can also help prevent gunk that has settled from going through the systems.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! I know you have had a few suggestions below concerning the power issue. I think I would also take a good look at the turbo, does it spin freely, vanes look ok etc. Not knowing which engine you have, some of those turbo after many hours would start to cake the shaft bearings with cooked oil, slowing down how fast they spin. That would contribute to the smoke also by not blowing enough air in under load.

I wonder if that glass has been changed. Well I’m sure it has which could be why it’s so loud in the cab. Wonder if you was to switch it back to OEM glad if it would be that loud. I’m sure they have some sound proofing glass you can buy. It may take a few months to years to get it but hey worth a look at.

Stalk choppers spread the trash evenly....our Woods 15ft batwing tends to windrow the trash I guess there are kits available to help with the problem but I've never tried it....I would like to go to a 20ft chopper and pull a disk behind it because I don't like how the trash blows away after chopping it needs to have some dirt thrown on it

In the event that you are able to ask Chris of let's dig 18 if he is going to put up the excavator grapple basketball challenge I think it would be pretty neat. Chris went out and bought a brand new Volvo 220 with lots of fancy accessories including a swivel hydraulic grapple to take the place of a digging bucket and with the grapple he has the ability to throw small light objects great distances with the excavator and that's how the idea was made excavator grapple basketball very simple game you cannot bust a ball for it counts against you basketballs alone have to be used a flat or deflated ball going through the net does not count and the ball has to be bounced at least one time with the excavator gravel caught and then tossed
