Hum belt tensioning device - kept you off the lathe and on the saw. Or a slug of pipe. As you have it to make a spacer. Nice job really.

Good morning Mike I'm only 3 minutes in and I looked up the spec. on that unit . Well it is about the same as a REDDOT unit I installed in a 1996 International . This truck was a single cab because it was modified to haul 40 foot plus beams on both side of the truck . This thing sort of worked . It just couldn't push enough air . Since you have a full size cab . Make sure you insulate the hell out of it before you put the interior in and add a light tint to the windows , because the sun will heat up the cab . Now I will finish the show .🙂🙂🙂

One thing about it if the dirt thing doesn't work out, you can always go into building custom dump trucks. You have done an amazing job on Lt. Dan, that's one heck of a serious piece of machinery.

Any time your working with rubber especially hoses use spray silicone it makes it go together easier, spray it on a rag and wipe it on the metal fitting so as not to contaminate ac system silicone is wonderful stuff I use it often 🦆 Flintstone

...bend U's in there to CUP the fittings??? and use 1/2 inch spacers? (well start with 1/2 may be less like quarterinch spacers.... to use in the holes on the condinser bolt , bracket, spacer, concincer, nut, with washers in there where they need to be... I see it in my head... ;)

Not sure if you have a clutch fan or not But on the 5ton military trucks we put a/c on we have to put an air seliond valve on to switch the clutch fan on when the compressor comes on to keep the condenser cool You may already have this figured out just thought I would pass it along

You use your step drill bits more than I do. I save the step drill bits for the jobs where they are really needed. Even though they are quality tools, I don't want to get them dull doing ordinary tasks. I cannot sharpen my step drill bits but I can sharpen all of my regular drill bits with my Drill Doctors. I always use a starter punch and start with smaller drill bits. Nice job!

If your crimp tool is like mine, you will have to remove all of the hoses to crimp the ends. The tool has to be clamped in a vice to use it.

I'm not an interior guy, per se. I have been doing automotive interiors since I was 15 (52 now). Done everything from molded carpet to seats to headliners, insulation and even speaker covers. Did you know that pantyhose make great speaker grill covers? They come in so many different colors, it's not hard to match your interior. Anyway, I'm too far away to give you a hand, but I'll be the first to make the terrible comments from my chair here. LOL! Love the build. It is always great to see someone who can inspire people to get off their butts and work.

When you started hooking up the turn buckle something screamed, “Put a jamb nut on it!” I think it is because of past experiences with the top link on my 3 point hitch. I once mowed into a stump with my bush hog because the top link had backed off. When I lifted the 3 point the blade’s didn’t clear the stump… the shear pins didn’t shear but the gear case input shaft did! I’ve never forgotten to jamb it tight since. Then, you said, “I put a jamb nut on it.” And, immediately the third rock swung back into orbit around the sun! Thanks Mikey for returning my world to equilibrium!!! That does look better than a factory install!!!

The only flaw i could pick out on the tensioner is the loop ends on the turn buckle may spread over time with vibration. Might weld the end of the loop. But then again it may never give you a problem. Love the truck cant wait to see the finished product!

I was goin to say the same thing. That style of turnbuckle is good for rope but a closed eye is preferred. After having several of that style turnbuckles open up on my I would HIGHLY recommend a quick TIG to make sure they stay closed.

A DP make sure that you go through and you put a piece of rubber in behind that dryer because you don't want it sitting right on that frame rail or it will literally freeze and rot that frame rail out if you put a piece of rubber their it will insulat it when it gets cold and frosty from working in the heat

I worked on armored trucks many years ago doing retrofits and custom installs on vintage trucks to satisfy union contracts. What we found is when the drivers and passengers felt cold air on their upper body they felt cool, some of the trucks had roof top evaps, and some had floor mount center counsels blowing towards the windshield. The center mounts did not do as well of a job as the roof top evaps. again blowing on the driver. I know your dash space is limited hence the center install. Insulation of the floor will be very helpful as well as the roof of the truck. A high idle with system demand will help also. All in all an impressive build!

Hi Mike.. Just wanted to let you know you have your condenser hoses on wrong. your Liquid line or high side line from the compressor should go directly to the condenser on the top fitting. The bottom fitting on the condenser goes to the drier then to the evaporator. Also make sure you have the condenser mounted correctly there is a top and bottom and can be installed upside down. 40 years of Ac repair and installing experience I noticed it right away. Bad ass truck btw...

@12:05, you should listen to the help 😁 Drilling that hole shouldn't take more than a couple seconds. Pushing the chisel point of the drill in hard enough to cut the center out takes ten times that long. Buy a cheap set of center drills, and you will be surprised how easy it is to pick up a center punch mark, or open a bigger hole up once the chisel point of the drill doesn't have to be forced thru the metal. Like a fellow said, work smarter, not harder!
