First I thougt it would be wrong to call it tricks, but after watching the video - it was actually magic. I saw one about scandinavian opening and I think may be a couple of times I've been in those situations. I also like the level of analysis. Good job.

I stumbled upon this 4 years later, but it's nice how you cover so many different lines. I really like it. Not many people attempt to cover so many possible lines.

Thank you for uploading these videos. The tricks are amazing, pretty self explanatory and forcing, instead of just playing "hope chess" as other people often call it, where your move is only good when your opponent plays a bad move in reply. Do you have any recommendations on how to practice to memorize openings and tricks like these? I often forget move order.

Thank you, GJ, all your videos are very good! However, the very last position here (14:33) is not so clear. Because after 1.h5 Black has 1...Qf6! and something like (2. hg Q:e5+) 2. Q:f6 gf 3. N:c6 bc 4. hg cb 5. gf+ K:f7 6. N:b5 a6 (instead of 6... R:c2 7. Nc3 d4 8. Kd1 d3 9. Rh3 + -) Or is there some better line for White which I have missed? Yes, 2. Qe3 Bh7 3. N:d5! seems to be much better : )

I'd love to hear your thoughts on 1. e4 c6 2. Nc3 d5 3. Nf3 Bg4 4. d4. For starters, 4... dxe4 5. Nxe4 Bxf3 6. Qxf3 Qxd4 7. Be3 looks like a line you'd recommend.

A more spectacular firework was also playable :) 1.e4 c6 2.Nc3 d5 3.Nf3 dxe4 4.Nxe4 Bf5 5.Ng3 Bg4 6.Bc4 Nf6 7.Ne5 here playing the knight first instead of bishop check!!

Love your work! You have a gift for explaining what to do and why. You also seem to find the piece or combination that you need to move. This is my problem.... I don't see these possibilities. I see the obvious pin or Knight fork but not the subtle move that forces my opponent to move his piece to the necessary position. Sometimes I am so locked into an offense that I neglect to look for other weaknesses. So my question is: After your opponent moves, what do you look for?

I've played this line for a long time. If in the line e4 c6 Nc3 d5 Nf3 Bg4 h3 then Bxf3 is the best move in fact it is Fischer-Petrosian which was a draw, but it was an amazing game (both sides had 2 queens!). I knew that line after Bf5 but then wasn't sure if Qe2 or Qf3 was best. I have got the smothered mate against quite strong players but it isn't the best line. Golombek recommended this line in his Chess Opening Strategy which is good up to a point (good on this line and the Ruy Lopez) and some of the Nimzo. I had forgotten or didn't know the immediate c3 idea and Nf4 etc...
@pk-fi1ok
@pk-fi1ok 6 жыл бұрын
1) thanks for the nice video :) 2) 8:44 Talking about dirty traps, there is a better move here, Ne5. If Bxd1 (queen) then Bxf7 mate and if Qd4 or Be6 then the position for black will be worse than the one you show. 3) 12:45 That is just a detail in the position - complete lost for black and leading to mate in 1 anyway - but you say "...and king has again only space left and that is f4..." which is not true, the king also has e4 where the next move is of course d3#, but this time the d-pawn is checkmating ... and we all love when it happens, right? Lol...:)

First I just watched this video, because I started playing the Caro-Kann and didn't want to have some nasty surprises - so I always played 3....; Nf6 or 3....; Bg4 4. h3; Bxf3 - and never had any problems. But since then - because I also like to open the game with 1. e4, I was winning about five games with these tricks and mostly against stronger opponents. Well, its their fault, if they play the Caro-Kann and didn't bother to search for it on youtube ;)

In the last final example the black should play h5 instead of h6. Also even after h6, d5 pawn could be defended with Nf6 other than e6 barring the road to the queen.
