GM Igor, I really appreciate your videos and analysis. I was hoping you could help me with something that may be a good idea for a whole video on. I was playing some random opening moves one day, and in my post-game analysis I discovered that I stumbled upon a very particular setup that the Bosnian FM Vlado Narancic uses in basically all of his games as white or black. It's kind of a Caro-Kann/Saragossa + King's Indian mix. Here is the first 8 moves in a game he played in 2017 against Milan Miljkovic just to give you an example of the setup: 1.Nf3 Nf6 2.c3 b6 3.g3 Bb7 4.Bg2 g6 5.d3 Bg7 6.Nbd2 d6 7.O-O Nbd7 8.Qc2 O-O The characteristic move that Narancic does in this setup is usually the combination of c3 and Qc2. After using Narancic's system in some of my own games, I found it to be pretty flexible, but I think it could use your GM touch to explain the logic behind it and some plans that might be used. THANKS!
@kurzackd3 ай бұрын
um... That's just *the Zukertort opening* ... Not any special variation or anything, since games with these opening moves (up to the 6th one) figure in Master databases since 1995. In 2004, another ex-Yugo player (NOT Narancic) also played this. .

Name suggestion: "Naked Lady Gambit" ... Because the queen is "exposed" the whole time. 😂😏
@thesingingfly3 ай бұрын
This is a pretty interesting line! The engine doesn't mind it, either, which is actually insane considering the queen moved thrice. However, this is another one of those poison-pawn variations where the b7 and b2 pawns are often poison to queens taking them. After Qb5, Black should play Nf6 and simply give you the b7 pawn. Next, Black can play Rb8, getting more tempos on the queen, followed by getting the pawn back with Nxe4. After Nxe4, the engine already wants to move the queen for a sixth time, going to d3, and after the followup Nc5, to go all the way back home with Qd1. After the followup g6, preparing the fianchetto the bishop and castle, Black has 4 pieces developed, and White only has 1.

I really love the variations after 6. Qc7 and it looks a ton of fun to play for white however isn't the whole attack kind of refuted by 6. Qa5+? It forces a queen trade either by 7. Nb3 or Qxa5 followed by Nxa5
@ShawnReed-h9z3 ай бұрын
I'd love to know what the theory is if, at 3:05 in on the video, black goes either pa6 (followed by qc8), or pb6 (followed by qc8) - anticipating that the white queen would try exploiting the weakness and going for a queen trade. Does white instead fall back with the queen? They don't have the knight developed enough yet to counter.
@alexandrudanciu78743 ай бұрын
Usually 90% of players would just push the queen out of there with pawn to A6... Yup, this happened most of the time😢 so the whole trick is lost on the way

Looking at this for the first time, I thought instead of Qc7, Qa5+ forces off the Qs and if a knight comes poking around, then Kd8 can keep it off c7. Still, even with the Q on c7, a move like e6 first and then a6 should quiet down the Q-side.
