From 34 years as Leo in major city. 1. Never go out after 9 pm, if you can help it. 2 never go to gas station/ convenience store at night. 3. Don't get involved when you have your family with you. They come first. 4. Disengage if at all possible. 5. Dont let your ego drag you into conflicts. 6. Lock your doors. The over wellming majority of violent crime happens at night. Family first. Now a days you will probably have multiple assailants.

Accept Christ as Savior and BELIEVE in Him and what He did for YOU at the Cross, your next breath is NOT guaranteed, and if you die in your sins without being Saved you will spend Eternity in Hell separated from God. Through Christ your sins are Forgiven, Fellowship with God The Father is Restored, and you’ll have Eternal Life ( Heaven ). Jesus is the ONLY WAY to The Father and the ONLY WAY to Heaven, make the Right decision and prepare your soul for where it will spend eternity. Christ is Coming back for those of us that belong to Him so much SOONER than any of us Think!!!!!. The Rapture of the Church is IMMINENT, and the Only way to escape what’s Coming, The Great Tribulation ( 7 years of Hell on earth ) is to Not be here for it, get saved and seek Christ while you still can for the dispensation of Grace is very quickly coming to an end. But if the kids are with us when my wife rattles off a place I google it because I can get live updates on how busy that location is. Who ever counts the most wins. 3rd they never stray or play away. Lastly, Both parents should have a set of keys. If one of you is involved with an incident....and the other is trying to evacuate the kids, it is a bit awkward to stop and ask for the keys.

This had bought me time before against beggars and homeless.

@@RP-ks6lyMy old firehouse was next to a highschool. There were many close calls with kids almost getting hit because they'd have their nose in their phones and just walk into the crosswalk without checking for cars (it wasn't a signaled crossing). The city decided the solition was to paint over the stripes and move the crossing closer to the intersection with a traffic signal-- and some kids _still_ walked blindly into the street at the old location, unaware anything had changed. What's worse is these people are now becoming adults and having kids, who they're equally mindless about.

I CCW'd everyday for 12 years while I was stationed at Fort Sill, only ever had one close call when they were doing random vehicle checks at the gate, but otherwise no one was the wiser. If the 2009 incident on Fort Hood taught us anything, it's that we should never allow ourselves to be lulled into a false sense of safety just because of the environment we're in. Risk might be low, but never zero, so regulations be damned. You just have to be smart about it.

And hey, a lot of this is stuff I was already practicing either subconciously or actively (got the opportunity to do some driving in Afghanistan). That being said, you can always learn something new and this video is jam packed with good info. Honestly, this channel has been crushing it. Massive thank you for bringing us such a wide variety of useful grade A content for free. PS: This may or not be a "good" piece of advice. When you park your car try to make it next to some sort of land mark (light poles work well). Even in the best of times finding your car in a massive parking lot can be a little hit and miss sometimes. Wandering around and making your car go "beep" so you can find it is just a bad look.

I have a four-year-old daughter and something I do at the store, when possible, is always park next to the cart corral so one side of my car can’t be parked next to and I don’t have to walk away to return my cart. I always park with the corral on my driver side, which is the same side I have my daughter’s car seat on. I either back in or pull straight in based on whatever situation gets the cart thing on my side. I hate having to walk away from the car with my kid in it (even though I obviously lock it). I also usually have my 90lb Pitbull in the passenger seat so that’s a nice deterrent as well 😂 but I also hate when I’m loading or unloading my kid and another car pulls right up next to us so I always do whatever I can to get an end spot or next to something.

*EXCELLENT ADVICE!!! In addition to the great points shared, the following suggestions come from my 30 years of experience living in high-risk areas and sadly, a few criminal interactions.* 15:53 *How does this guy Not know that feature can be turned off in all modern vehicles. NEVER allow all your doors to unlock when the vehicle is placed in Park.* *Additionally, I have taken YEARS to train my wife to look outside and around the vehicle before exiting, and to automatically lock the doors when everyone is in or immediately after someone exits the vehicle. It's a habit for us now.* 16:48 *NEVER go to the back of your car during your fill-up. True, no matter where you stand your line of sight for any approaching threats may be limited. But it is optimum to stand between the hose, your vehicle, the pumps and your driver's door (true, some cars suck by having the gasoline tank on the opposite side of the driver's door, get rid of that car, or train a passenger to deal with it properly) because this position provides you with the most obstacles between you and any would-be attacker and allows you the best opportunity to escape into your vehicle. Standing at the back off your car can get you cut off from re-entry to your vehicle, if your passengers are untrained then they may feel compelled to exit the safety of the vehicle to help you and inadvertently expose everyone else inside to threat.* 20:00 *EXCELLENT ADVICE! Here's how you can leave the perfect amount of space every time while simultaneously discouraging other cars cutting in front of you. As long as when you're sitting back with your head against your headrest you can see the bottom of the back tires of the vehicle in front of you touching the ground, then you're good. This distance will vary depending on the size of vehicle in front of you and the size of your vehicle, but as you practice this you'll notice the distance always works out.* 31:07 *Head on a swivel, eyes bounce back and forth from on the horizon to potential blind spots as you move. After everyone in the vehicle looks around outside, I keep all the other doors locked and I get out of the driver's door, re-lock everyone inside and then come around the back of my vehicle toward the passenger side which gives me an opportunity to get a better look of everything in the area. ONLY THEN do all my passengers to get out ONLY on that side. And yes, if they have to side over from the left side to the right to get out that's what they do. (To enforce this policy I keep the child safety lock on the left door behind the driver/me. Obviously I remove that feature when I have a trusted adult male behind me).* 38:40 *As I approach any glass windows or doors, I am trained to use the reflection to look behind before I even get to the door, to see if I'm being followed or for threats (I use reflections a LOT inside and outside because they're free force multipliers everywhere). I still look back once I open the door.* 49:04 *Immediately after reconning a new location I will always show my wife or friends what I believe is the optimum exit in the event of an emergency by using my entire hand angled sideways with my palm open to point in that direction, and I expect eye contact with a quick head nod to confirm we're in agreement.* *BEWARE of FREEZERS!!! Because most can be locked from outside and if the crime turns into a stand-off hostage situation over the next few hours or day then hypothermia can kill.* 53:11 / 54:40 *Look outside briefly BEFORE going outside and secure personal items for hands free except your car keys/fob should be in your hand if you need it to open the doors.* 58:30 *The greatest ideas are worthless without practice and habituation.* *Liberty = Peace & I pray we always enjoy both!*

You must live in bumfaugh, the lager metropolitan areas are rife with crime, at anytime anywhere. Do not become complacent with lower crime trends in daylight hours, in usually quiet communities. That’s a recipe for disaster. Eyes up and SA WHEN LEAVING YOUR RESIDENCE.🫡👮🏻♂️
@TheSpecialJ115 ай бұрын
That was my perception living in Chicago. Property crime could happen any time of day, but typically would happen in residential areas in the afternoon or industrial and commercial areas late at night. Violent crime seemed to be most common after the sun goes down, but if during daylight, in the afternoon and evening. Besides, most people aren't running errands at 9 am, they're at work. The best time of day to go if you're not at work yourself.

Really good advices in this video. When you entered the restaurant, there was a fire terminal in the background. I don't know if US fire code has this, but in my country, there usually is a building schematics that shows room (sometimes with functions), fire fighting equiptment, first aid placements, and emergency exits. That is free information. And sometimes that information will be visually outdated. And that is also free information about the venue. Also to you who run venues that has rooms/areas that you want too shield, don't write the function of that room/area on the fire schematics that is publicly available.

One thing I personally do differently is during the transition of entering the car dad and or mom should not put on their seat belts until the last minute, until you are ready to put that vehicle in drive. I say this for the chance that you have to exit the vehicle because of a threat. Which could be a number of things from a last minute snatching attempt, active shooter engaging you or your vehicle, etc.

We use half a tank around refill level instead of a quarter tank. Also, we make a point of refilling gas during daytime, and are very careful about the gas station location.

If I had a dad like this, I might not be capable of or have endurance for the survival lifestyle I have to live now. Love/annoyed that you are guarding against homeless people. I'm female, homeless watching for new ideas - to help myself, not bother your family tyvm.
@tasmanianduval1931Ай бұрын
I feel you... I've been homeless before as well. That being said, you can't leave anything to chance. As a homeless person, you're also vulnerable to potential threats. It cuts both ways. Stay vigilant. I hope you figure things out. Good luck.

One thing I do ( my family travels to sketchy places) is separate myself from my kids and (competent) wife. I get a second perspective of who’s watching who. It’s come in handy more than once.
@jw52979 ай бұрын
I do the same thing depending upon the environment, I will hang back from my very competent wife, easier to run up than move backwards and watch what could be coming in. Actually watched a guy try and come in on my bride and was able to call him out to her and caught him between us. This specific instance was a fair with large police presence. Had it been a remote part of downtown, nope, she'd be indirect contact to me, we don't hold hands, but she does hold my arm, so I have both hands available. Our cars have as dark window tint as allowed by law, in our area is limo tint, hard to see in in day time, definitely can't see in at night, but that works against your ability to see out as well, but I try and limit my areas I go at night.

When making large purchasing decisions, what additional considerations are involved which could be deal breakers or easy wins because of security concerns? Examples could be vehicles, housing, vacations or personnel. For instance, "I won't buy a house without an attached garage.", "I won't rent an apartment without a steel door and frame.", "I won't go on vacations in locations with more than 1k crimes per thousand residents.", "No one comes in my house without positive identification and a biometrically authenticated background check."

I prefer to be tail when on the move. That way I can know there isn't a threat behind. It's not great to addressing forward threats I'll admit. It's also trained since I was a kid. My dad and I would walk behind, and be able to react to any threat, but principally so we could keep an eye on what was behind us all.

Thank you!! It still surprises me how much of what you talk about in videos like this I do already!! Coming from a military family it’s like breathing!! And I almost never let my gas get below half a tank!! Learned the hard way many years ago to always have at least half a tank of gas in my car at all times!! Another good tip my daughter came up with a game when she was about three. I always told her anything and everything can be used as a weapon. So she started asking how this or that can be used and we discussed how to use it as a weapon. And that’s how the game of how can we use this as a weapon started lol!!

As the parent, something I've done is not buckle up immediately when I sit down, instead wait to latch the seatbelt until the vehicle is moving. Reason being is if something were to happen that I need to get out of the vehicle to respond I don't want to be tethered in just yet. By the time you're pulling out of the parking lot and the car is in motion the risk of that happening is diminished enough to put it on. Or that's my read on it idk if that's realistic or not.

The most important thing that will keep you from being a victim of a random encounter crime is situational awareness. If you can implement even a quarter of what is talked about in this video, you'll greatly decrease your chances of ever being a victim. Train for the off chance being aware doesn't work and don't let yourself be a victim.

Thank you, this was a very informative and comprehensive. In addition, to what was covered I would suggest immediately manually locking the doors. Do not wait for them to automatically lock when you put the car in gear. This secures you in the vehicle during what is still part of the transitional period or any waiting period while in the vehicle. Otherwise, someone could walk up and simply open a door. I have done this for years and was one of the practical tips I gave my daughter and son even before they started driving. An AllBoro Security Agency Simple Safety Tip.

Never sit near a window onto the street, never sit with your back to the door, always note possible escape routes / fire doors. Watch for people comming in with luggage/ ruck etc but leaving without it, look for people over dressed in warm weather, Hoods up on a sunny day etc, watch for peoples hands, are they obscured. Look for dudes entering but their friends remain outside on watch, or have they come from a vehicle with a driver and engine running?

I cannot comprehend why he forgot to mention, you always use reflective surfaces to aid in scanning. You approach any venue especially with glass windows, that's a rear view mirror as big as a barn. You typically can't see inside until up close, or under shade in the day, so use that surface-

My older brother travels for work during the week. Not so long ago he was sitting in the driver's seat of his work truck, his workers had run inside the gas station for their morning supplies. Has one worker, fondly called Amigo, in the back seat. A homeless man came up to the passenger window asking for money. My brother shook his head no. The man opened the passenger door which was unlocked and started to climb into the truck. My brothers sidearm was not on his person but in his travel bag behind his seat. Thankfully Amigo leaned forward shoved his hand at the man from the backseat and managed to scare him off

You forgot to mention tools of the trade, something everyone should Carry is a good flashlight. A really good option is the atomic beam by bulbhead, its cheap enough to equip the whole group and its very durable. Im big on figiting so my flashlight has ate alot of concrete from me tossing it up and catching it. Another great edc tool to go with your keys is a heavy duty carabiner. They both are great npe weapons that don't require extra training to use effectively. So they are great to give the kids as they can't legally be armed, especially at school. They definitely should have this as a school subject considering the rise in crime, great video
