Even though the lake has dried up, the surrounding area is still beautiful with a lot of history of the land. There are many hiking trails with a peak of one of the highest mountains in Virginia where you can see surrounding states. The resort itself is pretty and pleasant to stay at. We go back almost every year.

I agree it's prettier when it's filled with water. At the same time, it's also interesting to witness such a natural phenomenon.

I went there 2years ago and it is so sad to see that lake dried up😢

We were thinking of vacationing here in the summer. They don't have a/c though. Did you find that to be a bit to warm in the summer?

Since it's up in the mountains, it gets cool especially at night, so it's not really needed. When it did get too hot, we were in the pool. The main house doesn't have AC, but the cabins should if I'm not mistaken.
