This reminds me of the time someone asked me if I would get turned on if a women undressed in front of me... I returned the question to her and asked would you get turned on if a man undressed in front of you? Trying to get her to see how uncomfortable it is to be asked that kind of question but she didn't get it and said yes I would and then asked again if I would get turned on if a women got undressed in front of me so I just told her no and she acted surprised. (in ftm bisexual but she only knew the second one cuz she walked in on me and my friend who is straight, holding hands and asked if we're lesbian. Even after we denied and the whole Convo mentioned above happened she walked out and yelled to the whole camp we were in at the time, there's a lesbian couple in that room)

@@AlexClayland1232 but when a business chooses to not serve someone solely because of their sexuality, something they can't control, then that's discrimination. They may have the right to choose who they serve, but that doesn't make it right. You can't just deny someone basic human rights. Gay people have the right to eat at a restaurant just the same as straight people, and for straight people to be the ones who can dictate who can and can't be there based off sexuality is ridiculous.

In another video of a Korean woman with a fullbody tattoo, a lot of Korean comments were of the mindset that if she has the right to be publicly be seen like that, then they apparently have the right to be publicly disgusted and share their public opinion. Which is dumb bc that mindset (even if tattoos in whatever culture matters differently) is still rude. Just show common courtesy and respect your fellow humans. But a lot of ppl will use "different culture" as an excuse.
@yummychips_

There is this Korean dude that a friend of mine met when she was studying in Korea, and he was very well academically educated and seemed very polite, he gave a very chill, quiet type of vibe. He came to see my friend a couple of times and we all hung out, he seemed like he was such a kind person. Then, he went to the army, got extremely fit, and apparently got a new personality as well. Unbeknownst to her, my friend kindly invited him to spend Christmas with her and her family, and after having a dinner to which he was late because he was watching a movie, and didn't eat because he had already eaten prior to that, they went out and got drunk. He started saying the most transphobic, misogynist and homophobic things my friend had ever heard. Stuff like " if you're trans I will spit on you". Gays???? Ah no, don't give me that shit, I don't do that, they're disgusting. Women? Oh they're from a different species than men, we are literally so much better. " My friend is also a part of the LGBTQ+ community, and when she told him that he was like oh but you're a women, so that's fine, what's not okay are gay men ☠️☠️☠️☠️ The worst part is that when my friend asked to her other friends from Korea if they knew he was like that, they all told her they had known all along, that they saw his homophobia, transphobia and misogyny from a mile away. 🥲🥲🥲 Incredibly sad.

Then this one guy passing by with his headphones on literally jumped to our side, took them off, started arguing in a quiet and calm manner with the old guy and then turned to us and said "just ignore him" and walked away. as a korean man, Korean ppl like to discriminate others. others based on university they graduated, regions where they are from , foreinger, of course sexual orientation, skin colour, poor ppl, etc etc. so there is this "discrimination law"차별금지법 that has been pending for years now to pass. the worst thing is korean ppl dont even realize they are discrimitory when they are actually saying and doing it
@noone-gf5op

thats so sad... I mean, everywhere has discrimination to some degree and in some ways, but I do know its pretty bad in some parts of east asia, and that feels like such a suffocating environment to grow in. instead of accepting each other and assessing someone based on their personality and who they are, every little dry fact about you is a chance to lower you and see you as lesser than for no reason.

Bigotry and discrimination in highly collectivistic countries where people are generally expected to get along and maintain group harmony can be WILD. In Western countries where individualism, free speech, and direct communication are prioritized, things like these often do not go as unnoticed, thus, allowing people to speak their minds and stand up for one another (even if they're total strangers).
@d.karamazovian
@d.karamazovian Ай бұрын
Although I am part of the LGBTQ+ community, I do have to mention that there are queers who dislike discrimination law too though. It's like the Affirmative Action system. It certainly has good purpose, but it doesn't abide by the constitution. It's more likely to do more harm than good, regarding the freedom of expression. *Even contempt is protected by the freedom of expression.* Discrimination law is prone to failure, and to not make it fail, we have to change the actual constitution.

I literally ended a friendship that was bordering on a relationship due to a person like this. It came out of left field with no warning too; I'd gone to visit them and we were walking around town. I saw a couple of guys walking the opposite way hand in hand and kind of giggled to myself; I like seeing people being open about themselves like that. Then he chipped in and was like 'I'm not homophobic but I hate it when they do that in public where I can see them. It makes me uncomfortable and they should do it elsewhere'. I'm not confrontational but that blew my mind, I immediately retorted with 'You can't say that!' We had a conversation a little later about why he felt that way and I was like 'Does it make you uncomfortable?' Yes, 'is it going to hurt or directly affect your wellbeing?' tried to say that just seeing it was enough of an excuse to say that 'those people' shouldn't be out in public. A few months later, things were still dicey, and then he dropped a freakin' atom bomb of 'I don't get Trans people they shouldn't exist. They just do it for attention'🙂🔪 Bro was lucky that he was the other side of the country otherwise I might well have committed homocide. My best friend is a trans man, my mom has a friend who is a trans woman that I clearly remember from my childhood prior to her transition. I spent most of my teen years horse riding and there were quite the number of LGBTQ+ people there. That's where it ended. I absolutely refused to associate myself with someone that would actively complain because they're uncomfortable or don't understand these kinds of things about people that don't even affect him! He tried to get in touch in the end but I blocked him. There's a lot of things that I'm uncomfortable with especially regarding social interactions but it doesn't give me an excuse to put other people down for it. Uh, he was also low key racist too. I don't remember much about that side of things because I was done.

I am an ally for the LGBTQ+ community, and I have a friend who came out to my friend group years ago as lesbian. One of our friends immediately showed their colors as very homophobic and insensitive, which we weren't expecting. They said things like "Just to be clear Im straight, don't get ideas, don't touch me, leave me alone". It absolutely pissed me off. The logic and offensive language makes no sense. That friend has a straight guy friend and he playfully hits her all the time and there's no issue, why not tell him not to touch you too incase he gets ideas?? Its such a double standard and very hypocritical. Just because someone is gay, bisexual, whatever doesn't mean they are attracted to everyone with that gender (ex: a gay person doesn't like every man in existence, a lesbian doesn't like every female). Just like how you as a straight individual may not like everyone of the opposite sex. Love is love, and people who want to get in other people's business and make it about themselves somehow and get offended and rude can just f*** right off.

It's really true!! I was kicked out of a summer camp lifeguard job when I was 18 (I'm 19 now) and before they had found me a way home, me and my friend one night were with a few of our other friends and since there was nowhere else to sit the two of us were laying on the floor and holding hands, as friends do. Another girl came in and asked us if we were dating and I said no, she is straight, so this girl started questioning me and asked me what I was so I answered honestly since I was already kicked out for it I told her I was bisexual and she asked me if I would get turned on my any girl undressing in front of me. I wanted her to understand how awkward and uncomfortable that question was so I directed it back at her and asked would you get turned on if any random man undressed in front of you? She didn't take the hint, answered yes seriously, and proceeded to ask me again a few more times. When I satisfied her with enough no's she walked out of the room and yelled to the whole camp, there's a lesbian couple in there. I was gone the next day. My parents still don't know the real reason I was kicked out.

Sexual preference is not a defining characteristic for a person. It's one aspect but it does not determine badness or goodness. I have gay friends and this made me choke up and cry a little. Be kind guys! And kudos to the ladies who stood up for what is right.

WOW! I kind of forgot this was an experiment and I was getting upset… But, I’m glad he did not mean any of that, though I know there are actually people like this, which is why I praise those from the LGBTQ community who have already come out and been brave enough to do so, and then there is me, bisexual and not Brave enough to tell that I am bisexual… I hope soon people realize that those from the LGBTQ community have the right to love who they want as well and I also want to be able to live who I wanna love ✨

I'm glad to see the concept of this video. At least these women's feelings reflect kindness and well understanding, even actually there would be 'some' other people in real life who still hate LGBTQ+ but hopefully it will get better and better soon.

It's heartbreaking to watch or hear about the painful experiences that you are forced to endure just because of who you love. It's good that such videos highlight the prejudices in society. I'm a straight woman, and I got backlash at work from older employees for not refusing to work with freelance gay staff - 2 guys in their 20s. One was my manager, who hated gay people because of his religious beliefs. He never promoted despite being very good at what I did. I moved on to another job, and I have no regrets for doing the right thing. Both guys were amazing humans, and they both had experienced rejection from close family members once they came out. I thought they were both very brave for living their lives on their own terms and not hiding in the closet.

Sapir-Whorf hypothesis, not everything means the same in between language, and each cultures have specific ways to speak about them. I would guess that because the Korean gay community is marginalized, this either mean lack of feminity, or that there is nothing wrong with being gay.

luckily I've never been in a situation like this, the closest I can think of is someone saying "that's gay" and I asked why, they couldn't explain. I find that often when someone is so hateful to gay people they may be gay & hate themselves for it because of Christianity

As soon as dude started talking about AIDS, I would've turned on teacher-mode and given a long, boring lecture about HIV/AIDS. It's almost impossible to change the mind of a homophobe, but if I can at least educate the person on basic medical knowledge, maybe that person learned something.
