The answer is capitalism, plain and simple. The wealthy-elites in the record industry only allow the most profitable music to play on the radio, so we never get to hear anything but the simplest, most unsophisticated material. Record companies and radio stations work together to sell what's ADDICTIVE, not what's thought-provoking, unique, sophisticated or -- God forbid -- what uses real, live instruments.

How do we make this happen?
@jas_bataille3 жыл бұрын
@@lorraineb682 There are a couple ways to make happen but the fans can't officially do anything... he first way, is to do a radio edit of max. 3:30... you cut a verse, the bridge is very catchy, it starts getting really attention grabbing at around the 3:00 mark. You remove the bass fill that people will not understand. You put a chorus out. Then they call Quincy and he goes to pitch that to radio station... but they aren't weighing in on the charts or on the internet compared to charting pop artists, so good luck. They won't make it on iHeart or any other big player. The second way is to aim for specialized music shows, podcast, and so on. The third way is to get this sync to image on a movie or a series. The fourth way is to mass call a radio station with 1000 people or so and ask for it at the same time and see. That could work... IF it's not 5 min. The radio will NOT play it. It used to be possible back in the days but not anymore.
@lorraineb6823 жыл бұрын
@@jas_bataille Yeah... radio is very corporate these days. This song though is 4 min. Next To You has a 4 min radio edit. It's very poppy sounding. I think it's possible. I did request from my local station a year ago, but it's iHeart branded so I doubt that they take any suggestions whatsoever. I mean, I'm sure some jazz has crossed over into popular mainstream here and there over the years right?

I asked my wife to listen this. She's just a regular music listener who doesn't even know what a bass guitar is. She said "it's too busy with a bunch of different sounds". I'm getting mad everytime I hear a song I like and then start to wonder how great it would be if someone who actually cared about dynamic would have produced the song. I first saw Dirty Loops live in October of 2014. They revived my faith in young musicians and gave me a thrill like when I was a teenager! I met them and they were so kind and humble! Love how they interact. It's palpable! ❤❤🎉

These guys are just on another planet. I cannot stop listening to them. This song. Wake Me Up - I’m OBSESSED. This incredible fusion of jazz, rock, pop and you hear all the influences: Jaco, Stanley Clarke, Herbie, Pat Metheny, Lyle Mayes, Joe Sample, Styx Hooper, Prince, Eddie Van Halen, Joe Satriani, Jimi, Carter Beauford, and on and on - and they take it all and MAKE IT THEIR OWN. I am HOOKED. ALL IN. HAVE to see them live.

Cory's funky rhythm and the horns section just fit in perfectly, especially his guitar in the pre-chorus section where it just shines so well! The synth in the chorus feels sooo good with the melody! Also that bass tapping melody coupled with the horn section is just mint: great transition material.

In contrast... As someone who is just starting to learn about making videos can I ask whether the technique of never holding the camera still is something that people like. Every cut has the camera in motion whether that is left/right, up/down or zooming in or out. It is just a personal view but it strikes me as the visual equivalent of fingernails down a blackboard or is that just me? To my eyes it seems to be a one trick show that drastically over works a single technique passed the point of boredom to actual annoyance. There are also some odd choices such as the cut at 2:54 with a glimpse of a zoom in and another at 3:45 with a very brief zoom out that to be honest I thought were actually mistakes when I saw them and before I had read this comment. I don't mean any particular criticism since it is an aesthetic choice as much as a technical one but as a novice to this it would be interesting to me to can gauge how well or badly received it is as a piece of video. This is not a style that I would have thought of using but am I missing something?
@samenger15083 жыл бұрын
@@Birkguitars Dont worry, you're not supposed to use this style of filming/editing. It is something that i would not have done too because i find the editing too fast without enough dynamics. But it's a style as you said, it is something that they like to do (in every one of their videos), but it's not something you have to reproduce. However, if you want to make a musical clip video, you kinda have to use motion with the camera. It depends of the genre and the ambience of the music obviously but still, it's really rare that you see a clip without camera motion. Because it just makes images moving as the music is moving. It's as simple as that. Everything is about using ideas that corresponds to the story you want to tell in your video, and mostly how you want to tell it. You could pretty much do anything you want if the ideas you chose appear to match together. But for example, you wont see someone talking about philosophy during one hour with 10 cuts and zooms per 10 seconds. It would make it weird, and unpleasant to watch.
