I am loving your videos!! You address every question and concern that I have. I swear you're reading my mind lol! I was a rink rat throughout my childhood. Once I had kids, I stopped skating, gained a ton of weight, and was just miserable. What made it worse was that my boys were fabulous skaters and I was always at a rink somewhere watching my oldest son compete in speed skating. I am now 46 and started back skating about 4 years ago. I am trying to find my style again, but fear of falling keeps me from mastering anything. Your videos have helped me to realize that falling is a must in skating and inevitable lol. First off, I love your voice DDH, it makes the video exciting because I can hear your passion and enthusiasm for amazing skill that is Roller Skating. So please don't take any negativity to heart there, how else can you explain as amazingly as you do without saying something? What do some people want DDH holding up punch cards like an old Bob Dylan music video or something? Just keep being your awesome self and you won't hear the negativity over the sound of your own awesome. Now something more on topic I'd like to share as an amateur is the awkward feeling of skating backwards which forms part of this amazing technique and what I wanted to share was that a great way to get a bit of confidence(something that really helped me) is to practice skating around your local rink in both directions. I found that was great for getting both sides of my body balancing better. Now I've started a little backwards and DDH's video was great for this. I'm still an awkward looking slow poke but it's let's of fun. What she declares here is so true, it's all in the balance and weight shifting(and learning to factor in both sides of your body, it's crazy how you first learn your better on one side or direction than the other and I haven't seen a single skater yet who doesn't show that a little when they skate. Skate on skaters.

YES! Beautiful footwork and transitions around the corner of the rink! I will be incorporating this step sequence for sure, and after the step forward down the straightaway, a long spiral down the length of the rink. I love it. Maybe that right freeleg extension after the mohawk before the cross over -- is it a "chasse"? In one of your future footwork videos, could you please also go over outside mohawks? Opening my hips enough for those is one of my biggest skating challenges. Thank you again! I love this video content and style!

While I will enjoy watching you, I couldn't see myself in a pair of Skates again. Do you ever have any Older People wanting to learn to Skate. By Elderly I mean over 50?
@Dirtydeborahharry5 жыл бұрын
People over 50 come back to skating all the time. They remember skating regularly as children and most often learning on their own. If you regularly move your body (walk, yoga, lift) then it should not be a big problem at all. If you do not move your body regularly, I would suggest starting there as you will need to have pretty sharp body awareness to pick up skating.
