Thanks for the video. It was a great help cleaning my father's Helix.

Hi. What size ellen key did you use for the stock?
@slickrick3436 жыл бұрын
Nice video mate, still think you should have ended it halfway when the gun was still in bits. Gotta get the repair work in somehow mwhahaha... Ps. 2 months down the line and your favourite hammerli still hasn't lost pressure! One of life mysteries right there.

That is a very thorough explanation. Can you please provide info on how to adjust the trigger on Helix? Thanks

5yrs later and I am still trying to find a video showing how to adjust the trigger :D
@GanjaseedАй бұрын
It's a small allen key just behind the trigger guard (you can see the small hole at 1:45). It is only accessible after removing the rear stock. *Edit: standard trigger is set to 10 N (1000g). You can't decrease the force below that, but you can increase it: 10 turns clockwise correlates to a 10 N increase.

@@Ganjaseedthank you. I happen to buy the upgraded Merkel target trigger and when disassembling it found the little hole. I’ve now drilled a small hole in the stock for easy future adjustment 😎👍

@@enduroskillstraining Nice, what is your experience with the target trigger, did you set it to the lowest 5 N (500g)? Does it have other advantages? And what's the price?
@enduroskillstrainingАй бұрын
@ £490 and yes, currently set to 500gr. Feels amazing and like that the trigger itself has a better feel with the grid pattern. Slightly tricky to fit.

Good explanation and visuals. The Helix looks like a very interesting gun from all I have seen. Have you come across the Browning Maral? We don't have access to it here in the States. The straight pull must play well in the UK and EU. I believe you folks have a prohibition on pump action long guns in the UK. Why is that so? Having written that, in the US we have far more incomprehensible gun laws.

Is it possible to design a more complex gun?
@fiskeman925 жыл бұрын
well germans are know for overdesign and make things pretty complex . Not so service friendly :)

It is a bit discouraging to own knowing you have to do this to clean it..but to achieve a short throw straight pull that is forward locking, all this is necessary.

I'm curious, how many disassemblies it takes to loosen up those two pins or the barrel clamp.

what size allen does it take to remove the stock?
@Mrp0k32 жыл бұрын
4 or 5 mm
@GanjaseedАй бұрын
It's 5 mm! (If you should strip it, there is a deeper seated Torx fallback to get it undone in an emergency) *At least it is on the speedster model!

I don't think, that this (as many before) direct action (pool) mechanisms will have any great future... It is too complicated for disassembly, cleaning, maintaining... To much small complicated peaces... Nice and fast mechanism, but not for use in the nature, mud, forest, FIELD... sensitive to mud, dust, lost parts, damaged parts etc. Congratulations to engineer effort, big work SIR, but I really can't see any commercial future ... Bolt action, or modified gas semi auto (without gas cycling parts) will be the future for now in the world of fast reloading hunting/sniper carbines ... (My personal 2 cents opinion - some 2-3 RSD)
