Disassembling a Yanmar 2GM20 sea water pump at sea

This video shows how you may be able to disassemble your Yanmar sea water pump at sea, in an emergency, with minimal basic tools. I have purposely limited myself to a very basic set of tools that one might find on board. I apologize for the camera shake when hammering. I hope this doesn't spoil your viewing pleasure too much.

After two days of spraying penetrating oil on that nut you struggled I was able to unscrewed it with ease. I feel like some kind of hero.😂. Thank you for all your videos and hard work involved. Great job.

Nope. The reverse thread nut is on the inside/behind the pulley. btw he should have used a ring spanner instead of adjustable spanner.

On the shelf, where it belongs. 40 years of disassembling marine engines, pumps and gearboxes has taught me when it will be effective and when it won't. Once you've had 10,000 things apart, you'll know when to use it and when not to bother. :-)
