Thank you. One thing my dad told me about the bolt before putting it in the carrier is to make sure that the gap in the ends of each metal ring on the bolt are offset to prevent gas from escaping.
@Dan-di9jd

It doesn't matter if they are aligned or not Just a simply cycling of the gun will cause the rings to change positions. The truth is you only need one gas ring but the triple rings just more of a redundant feature to avoid any gas loss.

Over the past 20 years I've tried practically everything and nothings been more impressive than mil-comm. It's done the best at protecting, lubrication and makes cleaning child's play. Best part is that it's a patented synthetic blend that's nontoxic, won't harm your skin, has virtually zero smell and is safe on polymer and synthetic stocks.

Video was very well done and very helpful. I served a long time ago, and we were taught to use that CLP very generously. Their theory was blowback, action, and heat would thin whatever lubricants are in it, so you have a better chance to avoid it running dry. But i was in a long time ago and maybe things changed. I tend to still be generous with the oil but that’s just me. I just keep them clean and over oiled hope for the best hahahaha Again…. Good job on the video.

Four and a half decades ago I was a Combat Engineer in the 101 Airborne Division. I was also my Company's Armorer, and was sent to the United States Army's Armorer's Course. If your going to instruct some one in how to assemble a bolt carrier group it would be far better for the student to teach them that the extractor should be at the approximate 10 o'clock position looking at the face of the bolt to insert the cam pin. Instead of instructing some one that if it wont go in turn 180 degree's. Be precise and explain that in order for the weapon to extract and eject the empty case that the extractor needs to be at that position in order for it to function correctly, even though the cam pin will not go in if its wrongly positioned. A person owning ANY weapon, should understand its function and why it function's that way. They should practice disassembly and assembly, they should practice loading and unloading using dummy rounds all in the presence of an experienced person before ever shooting. I am a HARD CORE Constitutional Conservative. Hard CORE 2nd Amendment, but there are too many idiots with not an once of common sense that are dangerous with a loaded firearm. They don't understand its function, they are ignorant as to proper firearms safety and trigger discipline. Just saying.

I've never understood all the confusion out there regarding how to clean and lube an M16/AR15. I blame the internet. Back in the day, all we could do was read the manual and/or ask a trusted friend or gun shop guy. Now a guy buys a rifle, spends three weeks reading a million opinions of how to run it and winds up stumped. Personally, I figure the Army and the Corps have been using this beautiful weapon in every imaginable environment for fifty years! I do what the military calls for in a basic manual and my rifles have always run like a top. Just my two cents. Peace.

Excellent Video! Seriously, thank you for making this and sharing. I was looking for a video to show my younger son the ins and outs and cleaning his rifle. He prefers to watch videos, and learn on his own. This will be a great video for me to share with him. GOOD STUFF!

Surprised that he didn’t lube the inside of the bolt carrier bore or the out side of the bolt, or even the gas rings! ??

Why didn't you apply oil to other parts of the bolt besides the extractor?

Don't forget to stagger the gaps on the washers on the bolt. We were taught to do that in the military...

I just recall before inserting the bolt into carrier group, we were told to make sure rings gaps were not bear each other.

Back in the ancient times a shaving brush was the favored tool for BCG lubrication.....just a few drops of CLP on the bristles then apply- I still use that method. It gives you just the right amount of lube. Good video, although I was kind of amazed that there actually WAS such a thing. Then I reflected the not everyone has had the benefit of Uncle Sam's training........oh well.

I agree- thats why i made the video. A few people were like "i need to clean this" whom i had been a direct influence on, and i realized continuing the education was therefor my responsibility!
