Cryo-Lock® is an approved process by which a glass-lined turbine is shrunk onto a glass-lined agitator shaft. This force-locked joining technique was invented by Pfaudler in 1988.
The temperature difference between the agitator shaft and the turbine required for the (dis)assembly is obtained by cooling the agitator shaft with liquid nitrogen.
Cryo-Lock® is capable of transmitting a multiple of the gear torque produced while agitating yet can be easily released whenever necessary.
A comprehensive range of Cryo-Lock® turbine and shaft designs for virtually all applications is available. This video shows a CBT turbine.
