But because you're going to anyway, here's how you do it. Remember to knock the blade off track before beginning or finishing.

I'm fairly certain the only time the spring is under tension is when you open or close the knife. During normal carry, there's no tension.

Great disassembly video of the Boker, however I wish you had spent some time checking dimensions with a micrometer - like, how thick are those blade locks, and maybe do a scratch test to see if they're mild steel or hardened. It's clear they aren't as massive as those in a Microtech, nor do the recesses seem form-fitted. The locks and what they're made of is a major reason MT knives are so tough.

Thanks for doing this video, been looking at OTF's only for a few months, never really appealed to me because the price point for a decently USA made one was way to high when I can get a really nice folder for 100-200. Kinda curious to how strong the locks are on these, I assume it can't be as strong as a frame lock or something of that caliber but i'm not to certain.

Yea, true USA made is gonna be pricey. I'm sure Advanced Knife Bro has hammered an ultratech thru a log at some point. I can't imagine they're as strong as a framelock, but they're certainly not going to fail in anything you do every day. Assuming the blade is fully engaged.

I own this knife. Had it for 8 months and had to do maintenance once yesterday. I just sprayed rem action cleaner upside down. Let it dry out then gave a couple drops of oil. She's back to zinging.

Like your video except for you telling people that the blade is under tension when closed. They are not. The blade doesn't come under tension untill you slide the trigger forward . So it is safe to take 1 apart with the blade locked in place. These do not work like a switch blade out the side. Now a 1 way otf is under tension when locked closed.

I believe the metal is about equal thickness on both sides, so you should be able to punch a hole if you’ve got the proper equipment. Worst case, you may have to get one of those niteize sticky clips. Thanks for this comment, I’m just now realizing how dumb it is that there aren’t clip holes on both sides. The knife operation is ambi, why isn’t the knife carry?

I use Wiha bits. I used cheapo Walmart stuff for a long time and stripped out a lot of stuff. People will say that as long as you’re careful it won’t make a difference, but I think it does. T6, T8 and T10 should be all you need to get started and those three aren’t too much of an investment. The driver handle itself is from one of those cheapo sets because it’s the most hand filling one I have. I don’t like spindly handles.
