I can say from experience that TWSBI encourages the use and disassembly of their pens. They love hearing about your pens when they're working, but if anything does happen, you can always shoot them an e-mail, and they'll send you any part you might have broken (except for maybe the nib, which makes up the majority of the price of this pen) free of charge. TWSBI is a great company!

4:55 This saved me! That o-ring must be ALL the way up before the groves will catch. Mine were below the ridges and blocked them from sliding into the groves of the metal ring.

Ah! That's the trick (re: piston knob). I tried and tried to get the spacing just right but was doing it without the clear cap already on! Good pointer -- once more into the breach!

can you possibly make a detailed video on removing a friction fit nib, or direct me to one that you may have already made. i cant seem to remove it from its unit, Ive tried the tape trick, rubber trick. none of them work... you make look so easy!!!

oh im sorry... I meant this pen (twsbi 580-1.5mm nib). I want to be able to take the nib out of the nib unit. you do it so easily in this video. Do you have a suggestion?

I have a method to get the air bubble out, I fill the converter with ink and then turn the converter upside down so the ink fill flow into the upper part of the converter to get the air bubble out, then I can use the rest of the twist mechanism to pull up some more ink to get a full inked up converter.

Thank you for your reply. This is exactly the kind of pen I would be looking for, but the problem is that it is a bit expensive. I've bought the namiki falcon before and was a bit dissapointed with the body of the pen it was too light and the pen was too small uncapped and I dont like to cap my pens. the ink capacity of the pen wasnt that great either, so I don't feel like paying another 180 euros for a pen that might not suit my taste. Could you please recommend me a pen below 80 euros?

could you recommend me a pen that is similar to the twsbi580? I have medium nib twsbi but it skips quiten often in some angles but it is still a wet pen, since I spread the tines with your method. I really like the lamy safari fine with noodles black and I also love the weight and the grip section. The problem I have with this pen is the converter doesnt really hold much ink and it sometimes get dry after 2 pages of writing. the pen looks good but the cap ruins it for me.

sorry to bother you again. It doesnt have to be a piston filler, the twsbi was actually my first piston filler and it doesnt really matter to me whether it my pen uses a converter or a piston as long as the converter holds atleast as much ink as an international cartridge. I just want a wet and smooth writer that will keep up with you for 2 pages without getting dry or getting skip issues.

Hi again, i was rinsing my 580 cap yesterday to remove ink stains and somehow 2 mini water drops got in between the inner and outer cap. Its not a big deal but its driving me nuts. I left it overnight to dry but its still there. Is there a way to get to them like disassemble the cap? or i just have to wait till it dries the slow way. Thanks.

Heart attack averted, soaked it in water and tried again - worked like a charm. Now my piston isn't well aligned though, but I can live with that!

Yep, thanks sbrebrown! I'll do that as I change my ink. Have you ever noticed that private reserve tanzanite tends to creep up the barrel of the piston and stay stuck on the other side of the rubber? Very little amount but some still.. It doesn't bother me, just a bit of purple in my converter or in this case, the clear body of the 580.. Could it dry and cause problems? How did it get there? How to get it out? All good questions at this point.

sbrebrown I put the cap back in place, and then I put the pen down. The final step was cut off and I've been afraid to touch the pen for weeks. I couldn't pay my power bill, it's dark and I'm scared.
