Disassembly of Ruger 77/22 Bolt

Because the manual diagrams are very vague I made this video to help anyone that wanted to see how easily the 77/22 bolt could be disassembled. I learned all the steps the hard way through some trial and error.
First time I tried disassembling the bolt I used a paper clip instead of a nail, it was a mistake and I almost could not put it back together.

@Netduke I finally got it. I needed my wife's help to get it rotated as I pulled it back. Thanks for your help

@Romezview if you had a vise with soft jaws you can grip the back part of the bolt and rotate the handle back. Some padded pliers might work too. Sticking the nail into the hole is used to prevent the problem you have with the hammer/striker stuck forward.

hey I need some help with mine. I rotated the bolt handle clockwise and it locked like it would when you are ready to fire in the rifle, but now I cant get it back up to put it back into the rifle...any help would be great

What the heck is that ramp for the firing pin ? It seems like some kind of lock. It has kc written above it

At :23 seconds into the video, you should point out that the breech block retaining pin is not asymmetrical, it only comes out and goes back into the right side.

This was helpful. But my pin holding the front lugs doesn't fall out as easily when I rotate the rear... (THE NAIL! I SHOULDA READ THE COMMENTS 1ST!)

They must have paid him by the words spoken. Just enough resolution on a smart phone to get most into trouble. "And thats it" is about right for anybody that torques the bolt body counter-clockwise as at least one watcher did. Good video, terrible guide = DO NOT ATTEMPT IT WITHOUT SEEING FIRST ON A HIGH RESOLUTION SCREEN.

that's why i hate the Ruger 77/22 hornet that dang 2 piece bolt why in hell would any gun maker make a 2 pc bolt they have to be shimmed to get any kind of accuracy out of the rifle But it will never shot as good as a rifle with a 1pc bolt NO Slop (PLAY) in the bolt when its a SOLD PIECE OF STEEL !
