I'm really struggling with this pump. I have the OLED version and can get it to go from 1950 rpm to 4000+ on manual mode, but 1950 is a little loud still. If you change it to PWM by turning down the power, it goes to a nice quiet 1800, but the PWM signal from my mother board making any changes makes it boost to over 3000 and it doesn't come down again. It seems if you turn it to PWM in windows it is fine using something like argus monitor, but when booting from off, the motherboard gives it 100% PWM before post, and the pump screws up and locks it at minimum 3000+ rpm again unless you manually turn it onto PWM again. Sounds confusing and very frustrating! I'm not sure if it's the electronics or the pump, I think the electonics and I'm worried if i change to another pump it still won't work.

does the block support d5 pumps or only ddc pumps ? sorry if my question does not make sense,im new to watercooling.
@flyordieinafire
@flyordieinafire Жыл бұрын
Not a problem. I'm pretty sure DDC and D5 are different shape/sizes so you won't find anything (tops or block wise) out there that will fit both. Most places you can filter down to one or the other.

Thanks for the video, it was really helpful. Regarding the LED strip, can it be plugged into a standard motherboard fan header? or does it require a motherboard with an RGB header?
@flyordieinafire
@flyordieinafire 3 жыл бұрын
Don't plug into a fan header!!!!! They sell a converter to 5V RGB header. There's even a little tag telling you not to plug into motherboard fan header. I think they used that connector for convenience, but is only confusing to end users. There is a label on the converter and the led strip's connector that says "5V lighting interface" on one side and on the other says "Do not connect to the motherboard interface of 12V FAN" I've posted pictures of this label here: imgur.com/a/rmfUjlv This was the USA ebay vendor I used who sells the converter: www.ebay.com/itm/Barrow-5v-RGB-Adapter-Lrc-2-0-ZBDZJX-5-IN-STOCK-USA/303575876543

Nice! What's the deal with 90 degree rotation for AMD vs Intel? Looks like it can be configured either way? Also any flow or noise numbers for the pump swap?
@flyordieinafire
@flyordieinafire 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. With the Intel mount (I don't have) you can mount either way without issue, but with AMD the Reservoir/ports section of the acrylic block two of the AMD mount holes so you can only mount sideways either way. Optimum Tech shows close up of intel mount here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iXOsiJqBotylbJo Alta's Project shows the AMD mounting here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sITJpHmiltxqq68 Original pump looks to have a potentiometer dial to adjust speed and the MCP35x is PWM controlled. I won't have flow or noise numbers for this pump swap for like a month. I'll post another video. Currently waiting on GPU waterblock preorder. In the meantime I'm test/dry fitting the parts I do have to sort out what other parts I need to order.

@@flyordieinafire sorry, let me rephrase my question :).. I have an AMD block (like yours)... What's stopping me from pulling it apart and reinstalling the mounting bracket with a 90degree offset? From your video it looks like that will work just fine?
@flyordieinafire
@flyordieinafire 3 жыл бұрын
Here's an imgur album (at the end of this post) . Does this help answer your question? You'll notice two of the mounting slots in the bracket are blocked by the reservoir area. They could offest the acrylic drilling and offset the bracket to compensated for this, but as is it's symetical and the reservoir is in the way. Alternatively if they made the widge just the G 1/4 width they could make the reservoir section shallower but maybe they didn't do that because of the G 1/4 Threads. imgur.com/a/uMywI8f

@@flyordieinafire ahh I see, damn why didn't they offset the whole thing by a few mm....ok, so basically someone needs to laser cut a new mounting plate... Thanks again for the pics/explanation
@flyordieinafire
@flyordieinafire 3 жыл бұрын
@@davids8345 np. A new mount plate also means mount on die/cpu will be offset. Probably not a deal breaker especially if it's the difference between mounting and not fitting.

Can this pump be powered with a motherboard header?
@flyordieinafire

At 6:30 I pickup the connector. I believe it requires a four pin molex for power and fan motherboard header just for fan speed info.
@jakoorie
@jakoorie 11 ай бұрын
You can rewire the connector to a 4 pin and get rid of the speed controller. The pump PCB has the pin out on it but the motor needs 1.5 amps, make sure your MB header supplies that

You don't have fear to galvanic corrosion? I think the lateral metal plate it's aluminium...

I do. I was hoping premix would prevent that, but I'm also thinking about replacing it with another material. Being rectangular I should be able to reproduce the side and mount holes in another metal. But what other metal? The "aluminum alloy" mention on almost everything barrow makeshas turned me off using most any other part from them.

It would be nice and worth the extra cost if all the materials were brass/copper but I don’t think you need to really worry about corrosion if you’re using a treated liquid. Aios get away with mixing metals all the time and don’t have an issue.
