Good info. Thanks. Speaking specifically about professional Kelvin lead sets... Pomona, Fluke, etc. Some come with an external cable ground shield. The clip end is not terminated to the contacts. However, the meter end of the cable has an extra connector that attaches to mains Earth, through the meter's auxiliary panel Earth ground. That would help with noise, but also creates a path to ground that must be monitored for wear and tear. You don't want an open ground shorting things out. Such is the case with the DE-5000 leads, as you know. Well, when you are using its wall power adapter, I guess.
