That screw has a Torx head. A security Torx would have the nipple in the middle.

Did you check voltage in each battery to see if it's only one that needs replacing??
@summetj2 жыл бұрын
Good suggestion, that's a low cost easy diagnostic that I neglected. I checked, and the cells ranged from a low of 3.75 to a high of 3.91 (most were in the 3.85 range). I could replace the 3.75 volt cell, but given the 7+ year age of the pack, the fact that Dyson probably used good quality cells, and the fact that the BMS looks to be a balancing one, I doubt the lowest voltage cell is much worse than the others. [When I saw that replacement packs could be had for $35, my motivation to do cell replacements went away ;>]

Hi, it's not possible to use again a disconnected Dyson BMS or a BMS with red light . It locks down definitely and must be reactivated with a special tool in the factory. And this first of all for commercial reasons . So just for the trash.... I change the cells with a chinese" Dyson" Bms without this issue, and so I can re-use it several times , with 2700 mAh high drain cells to have better capacity. I cut all tabs and the little screw above keeps the box closed , so I can easely check the balance. I add that most of 35§ batteries run,... Well, cheaper but with not so good cells compared to the Dyson cells. However Max power (too many amps) often used kills these little batteries quickly , and specially if you use this power with a half discharged battery.

Great video mate, can I replace the battery with a 12800mah replacement battery? The volts are the same as old battery it’s just a bigger mah,,current battery is 1300mah 22.2v, replacement I’ve been looking at is 12800mah and 8800mah both 22.2v, Thanks

As long as the voltage is the same, and it is designed for the same version vacuum, it should fit and work properly. However I have reviewed many replacement Dyson batteries that claim to have higher amp hour capacity and really do not. (So don't necessarily base your purchasing decision on a published amp hour capacity.)

Make a milwaukee battery adaptor for that
@summetj2 жыл бұрын
Well, in my case it would have to be Porter Cable, as my Ego batteries are much too high a voltage.

These power tool batteries are 5S, so 18 V nominal (no matter what the marketing says) while the original Dyson is a 6S at 21.6 V. Back-of-the-napkin math says the vacuum cleaner with the power tool battery will deliver over 100 W less... It would be interesting to see a comparison of a brand new Dyson battery vs a brand new power tool battery. Like on actual suction power, not math.

Probably closer to $20 for good quality ones, plus the cost of a spot welder.
