Disaster strikes at the chateau Ep 12

In this episode, disaster strikes and we end up in the accident and emergency as things nearly take a very serious turn. We finally demolish the last parts of the wine vats. Some friends join us to explore the Dordogne river by canoe, and we finally have someone who knows what they are doing as we commence the enormous task of sandblasting every inch of the interior of the chateau walls to breathe new life into the chateau.

You made such a difference by sand blasting the walls. I remember before that the nasty fall and had to go hospital thankfully all was OK 😊 loved watching you have such a soothing narrative voice 😊

Thank goodness Nicole and Noah were unharmed albeit some discomfort for Nicole. Bruised ribs hurt! It is good that you hired Kurt for some of the sandblasting. Sometimes it’s wiser to outsource a job although it will cost money. But some things are just too much. By doing so you give someone else income which is so needed in this economy. Everyone is happy! It’s wonderful that your friends are helping. And it is good to learn about your beautiful area by land and by river. And the food and wine! All work and no play burns one out quickly! I really enjoy witnessing your excellent adventure vicariously.

Bonjour. Je ne pense pas que le parement de pierres a été conçu pour être laissé apparent, les pierres étaient probablement recouvertes d'un enduis de chaux. In English: I don't think the stones were meant to be left exposed but covered by some sort of lime plaster.

Bonjour 👋🏼 je ne sais pas. Mais nous pensons que c’est très jolie de garder quelques murs avec la pierre apparente et avec des joints à la chaux. Nous en avons discuté avec un mâcon Compagnon et des architectes qui étaient d’accord avec nous. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Why do you show ONLY close up view of the château? I would like to see the château or perhaps it’s a big farmhouse. Either way, I would like to see it

Other episodes have wider views of the chateau. However, we didn’t show a wider shot in this episode 🤷🏽‍♂️ We don’t yet have a drone so can’t take arial shots, although episode 10 has some footage with a drone from when we were on the chateau DIY show.
