NOT the most deceiving flight numbers in Innova's staple. I would compare this, in that I have done this my-self to Innova Beast as that the flight path is close to the same only that The OPTO Saint definitely has more glide for about 260-280ft max distance drivers. So as a beginner this can be perfect straight disc driver with great glide. Reliable performance in all conditions. Recommend for any beginner as a good upgrade from using an Innova Beast. Great video!

In a recent review from six sided discs, the lucid glimmer escape got like 50+feet more than the lucid. They were really surprised by that. I wonder how that one would compare with the Saint. Was your escape stamped as opto or opto glimmer? You said it has flakes in it, so I'm wondering if it's the same or different.

Great question! I don’t think I bought that run as Lucid Glimmer, but they do have some flake action in them. They do fly far and great as a lower arm speed driver. (I circulate 3 orange lucid ones through my bag, love them for a straight shot through the woods).

The Saint is just magical in a tailwind. I had 4 consecutive throws in a field today with my new Opto Saint that went 330, 330, 330, and 355. The Sidewinders by comparison were only hitting 300 to 310. The Essence is all the rage these days. I'd love a comparison between the Saint and Essence! I know it's branded as a Discmania disc, but it's still made by Latitude.

hello, quick tip on your form, maybe turn your hips a bit more in the "reach back" and get your left arm tucked into the body during the pull through (not above your disc) so that it does not hinder your body's rotation and allow for more spin, therefore greater distance and more turn. Great video btw, was thinking of buying the Saint to compare it to the Undertaker which I already own. If both companies numbers are true to each other than I expect that the Saint will be as amazing and as useful of a disc as the Undertaker! Really love that disc!

I am currently using an Opto ice River as my "driver". My speed has recently bumped up a bit and I can now get proper flight out of a Sapphire and a Getaway if I get a perfect throw. I just got a retro burst Saint tonight bug haven't gotten a chance to throw it yet. I love the glide on the River and the Saint seems to be similar, but faster. I can't wait to try it out.

I haven’t thrown an Opto Ice River (yet)! If you are straightening the River easily and or turning it over the Saint is a good step up. Similarly, in the DD lineup, if you’re straightening the Maverick, the next step up there is the Escape (and in the Westside lineup - the Stag). Don’t abandon the River! Learn how to fitness it accurately and continue to use it as a tool in the bag!

@@BeaverBranch Thanks. I have an Escape that came with my starter set. I'm not sure why, but it's almost flat on the top and doesn't even fly as far as my River. I can get about 275-280 out of the River.

I have a fuzion escape that I love, it flips up to dead straight for me and then gets that nice little fade at the end. I throw it alot in the woods on BH and FH. Are you going to be reviewing the supreme escape when it releases? I think it comes out 11/17

Same, my fuzion is much more fresh and much more stable. Haven't throw a Saint but it looks like it flies just a touch slower???

Not sure about slower, but definitely got up to speed easier and seemed less stable than the Escapes I was throwing! So your Fuzion Escapes are more stable? I know my Fuzion Trespasses are much more stable than Lucid. (Maybe similar!?)

@@BeaverBranch Yes!! I've had the same experience. My least stable Trespass is a blue lucid, it was much less stableright out of the box than my super beat BioFuzion. So I bought a Fuzion and it is nice and stable. My favorite Trespass right now is the obscure Lucid Air Moonshine the SkyBreed has right now. They made like two colors a melon orange and a honeydew melon green. Great stability even though they are Air. I have so many Trespasses and I am still considering getting another one for backup. The plastic doesn't feel like Lucid, it's even better.

Great stuff as always, Brian. Thanks for putting these together, feels almost like I had a chance to try them both myself. I like throwing lighter-weight stuff, so I'd be curious what you think of the Breakout (which I haven't tried yet)

Have they produced the Breakout recently? I’ve seen some in Prime plastic. I would be interested in throwing them, possibly comparing them to the Stag! I know the Diamond and Jade are both really nice lightweight fairway drivers. Lightweight discs in general need to be researched more. I feel like we can get more distance as we can get more arm speed (in theory). Some argue lighter weight more susceptible to wind conditions. I use a Sapphire in 159g for forehand drives. I’ve also thrown it backhand and gotten 450’ with it (ideal field test wind conditions). If I can find the Breakout I’ll definitely make a comparison review! Thanks for the questions and ideas!

@@BeaverBranch I guess they're not available at the moment in premium plastic. I love the feel of throwing retro/prime but drivers take too much damage for it to be practical.

Yes, I researched tried to find the Breakout in a premium, but couldn’t (maybe on eBay). Maybe if they sell enough Prime versions they will make a run of Lucid or Fuzion.

I just recently got into disc golf with the help of my pastor from church. I have a retro pack from latitude 64 and am looking at periodically upgrading to something better. Does lucid feel any better than the opto or is it the same plastic?

Hi Anthony! “Retro” is the baseline plastic from Latitude. It is called “Prime” for Dynamic Discs and “Origio” for Westside (they are all the same plastic -between the “Trilogy” companies). The next step up is “Opto” from Latitude, “Lucid” from DD and “VIP” from Westside. (This plastic is very durable, and you can usually see through - it has some transparency). To answer your question - Lucid and Opto are the same plastics. (All three brands produced by Latitude 64 in Sweden). The other premium plastic options are called “Gold” for Latitude, “Fuzion” for DD and “Tournament” for Westside. This plastic is also very durable and is opaque, and has a slightly different grip then the one mentioned above. Some prefer the grip of this type plastic over the clearer, shinier, smoother plastics. Upgrading is always awesome! The premium plastics will maintain there original flight patterns longer, but there is also nothing wrong with baseline plastics. Baseline plastics are often preferred for putter plastics, and sometime for midranges! Hope you are enjoying the sport!!! Brian Morris

Great videos! Really helpful. You test a lot of the discs I'm considering buying. I really like the discs from Latitude. Started with the Jade as my driver and have now grown out of it and throwing a Grace for distance now👍🏻 Maybe I will pick up a Opto Saint.. I'm getting the Grace to turn a little before fading, and landing about 300 ft out. Would you recommend the Saint for more controlled shots?

I think the Saint would be a good step up from the Jade. I believe it is relatively easy to straighten, and acts as a good all around driver. Another option in the control fairway driver department could be a River, which is a 7 speed. In general I recommend lower speeds for more control. (And would take less arm speed to get them where they need to be).

what was the weights on those discs? Learned it can make a HUGE difference...bought a 173g essence and it was staaaable...

Weights are 174-175. That Escape is metal flake/glimmer special plastic not sure how I acquired such good plastic. Really wanted to compare regular Lucid versus Opto, which is same plastic. Same weights, special Lucid Escape more stable (almost flies like the Getaway!)

I found a vandal works for me in this range but I like the escape

I found the Vandal (at least for me!) has to do the full flex “S” turn shot to fly naturally. The Escape is a good natural straight shooter. Can use both two different shots!

I agree it is more stable than the other 3 I currently circulate in my bag. It does have the “metal” flakes, almost like throwing something in Lucid X plastic than regular lucid. Good and bad…
