Now this is the type of training that disc golfers would benefit from most. Acceleration training is what will transfer over most specifically to the disc golf throw. Endurance is great to have, but if you want to throw farther, acceleration is paramount.

"Who would have thought, this is the growth of disc golf, we are professional athletes now, we are training and they want our autographs when we are throwing balls against walls. Pretty awesome!

This might make a great difference on someone by increasing overall athletism. Otherwise this is quite distant to speed specific training, as all of the exercises are intervals with not enough rest to give full recovery in between (3min needed at least i.e. between series of jumps).

Having my masters in human performance, none of this is going to translate to disc golf, especially if you’ve already been playing for a number of years. We will look back at this video one day and laugh most likely, but hey it’s a start.

Would you care to ellaborate with some better excercises then, please? :)

There are a few exercises there; that would translate to disc golf. But some real science and investigation for many years have been put into other sports involving hip and shoulder rotation- golf, baseball (swinging the bat), discuss, etc. You just have to research them. Eagle can barely do 5 push-ups, yet can throw 600 ft. But he is flexible at least in his trunk rotation, he has nearly flawless form, and he is explosive from practicing throwing a disc very hard hundreds of times. In disc golf since the projectile is so light, technique and flexibility are definitely the top two factors. Strength not so much. And it’s great if your explosive in jumping and other movements, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you will be when It comes to hip rotation. And if your form isn’t correct, you may not be able to utilize that explosiveness anyways

No. They are lacking basic proficiency. It would be a mistake to try to pile on fancy sport specific exercises when the haven't even achieved an adequate base of general fitness. You would just be setting them up for failure and injury. Most of my high school athletes move better than these guys. Even my adult athletes would be working on fundamental stuff if I saw a hole in their abilities. A guy who can throw a disc 600ft but can't do a few push-ups is called an overpowered athlete. It's a big problem that needs to be fixed. They can be competitive in disc golf well into their 40s, so go slow and do it right. If you're critical of what they're doing after a brief clip of a few exercises, I seriously doubt your understanding of long term programming.

dtatman7 , so you have a degree in this field? We are talking about disc golf. Eagle could never do a push-up in his life and still play well into his 40’s. You’re talking about general fitness. My comments were saying that these exercises aren’t going to help anyone get better at disc golf. General fitness; Sure. But the viewers are going to be under the impression that if they do this stuff they will throw farther or improve their game. “Someone who can throw 600ft and not do 5 push-ups is called an overpowered athlete, and it’s a big problem that needs to be fixed” This sounds like some bull a personal trainer would say. Why is this a problem? Doing push-ups will addd nothing to their game, sounds like you have a personal trainer mentality and like spreading false information. Personal trainers aren’t good at training high level athletes. I remember when Kevin Durant couldn’t bench his body weight at the combine and everyone was concerned. What does bench press have to do with basketball?? Lol And look at him now...

Sadly, these videos are made for consumption, not assisting amateurs with creating an exercise regimen. Not one of these explanations discusses how to perform the actions properly, to avoid injury
