The scoring needs a revamp I feel like. if we're going to do rebuttles (and we should) let's score some points for them. Right now it's just set in stone, if you make a coherent statement, 3 points. Bad statement, 2 points, giving a somewhat different response or adding anything more to the debate 4 points. Should be more on the spot scoring and what the host is feeling with what is being said. I want this to fully take on the around the horn vibe for disc golf. Need to minus people points as well. That being said I still appreciate you all putting these out every week and I look forward to them, thank you!! Just an opinion/suggestion I'm throwing out there.

Agree, if you shoot a 60 shot round its 60 shots regardless of the par, it just affects the rating of the course. As for the hole, if tee or basket placement isnt changed, islands with hazards could be added to either force a though drive or though second shot

No Phones at worlds is ridiculous. Again, as someone who has VIP tickets to New London, I wouldn’t have an issue with this IF it had been stated the day tickets went on sale. If DGN or PDGA want to reimburse ticket holders for ticket/hotel/time lost etc,… then I’ll happily accept that offer. But since they won’t, and now have pissed off the people who will be on the grounds, I say Good luck in your attempt to stop it. Many will now do it just to spite the PDGA and DGN. Trevor gets it.

Avionics engineer retired .. Back in the day, when laptops were first produced, late 80s early 90s. The spinning hard disc drives created a surprising amount of noise. That was also the early days of digital fly by wire i.e. sending a communications packet full of data to the various control points around the plane rather than an analog signal. Digital data lines are susceptible to noise, we’ve learned to heavily shield them. Laptops produced big noise, across the spectrum, therefore turn your laptop off. Cell phones was the same concept: they put out a regular radio signal looking for a cell tower. These radio signals are sort of the same thing as disc drive noise to a data line?

Skateboarder here, yes skating in the Olympics made it possible to get a lot more skateparks, as I’ve seen them popping up everywhere.. but definitely a lack of thought on how they are designed. Skating isn’t really seen as a “sport” so not everyone is thrilled about it in the community. But I think it would be amazing for disc golf. Everyone's like "How can I take photos in Worlds".. how about the real problem for the spectators on the ground: How in the heck you follow scores? How do you know what's going on, if you are not allowed to check it??
@timthenchant3r4 ай бұрын
I think the "taking a picture" thing is misunderstood. You can't take a picture of a disc to ask the TD to make an in/out ruling, this has to be a group call. But you can take a picture and ask the TD if a certain area was meant to be in bounds or not, if the rules were unclear. Not ok: "Hey, TD. We took this picture of Brodie's disc, is it in or out?" OK: "Hey TD. Brodie's disc landed past where the OB line ended, look at this picture so you know where on the hole we are talking about. Was this area meant to be OB or not? The rules on the hole were not clear, so he played a provisional."

I don't get how keeping score is so difficult. It takes a less than 30 seconds to run through scores from the last hole and I've had multiple situations where I've caught wrong scores being reported when no one else on the card was speaking up about it. If there is only 2 people keeping each others scores more scoring errors would go unnoticed i feel like. But maybe I just like the control of keeping track of the score because I don't trust people to do it right 😂🤷♂️

Bottom line, it's the total amount of shots thrown at the end of the tournament. Lowest amount of throws wins regardless of of what the par on each hole is. You could call a hole a par 1, that takes on average, 6 shots to make. Doesn't change who the winner is at the end. Par is just a average, it doesn't mean anything. If you turned a par 3 hole into a par 5, you wouldn't have the pros just playing it for birds.

Disc golf should not be in the Olympics. Every sport in the Olympics has a country based cap in terms of number of athletes that can attend, disc golf media already under cuts the validity of wins in European Tour events because of the lack of American athletes At the Olympics likely only 4 US players will be able to attend and this will cause Foundation podcasts and others to question whether the Olympics will count

4th question is absolute garbage. A 576 ft par 5 that Idlewild hole 8 used to be is an absolute joke. So incredibly stupid that one might argue it detracts from the legitimacy of the sport. Second round Calvin had a deplorable drive. Below average second shot. Then a very average third shot for a 1 foot putt for 4. Whoever made that a par 5 in the first place is probably on the PDGA team that throws darts at the balloon board for new rule determinations. Also Brodie is spot on with the entire rebuttal. Changing the par of a hole is absolutely irrelevant. If you want a hole played differently you need to physically change the layout. Not just some arbitrary imaginary number that helps you keep score more easily.

The issue with Ryan at AM worlds this year is it kind of ruined the competitive nature of it. Sure the guy who is way better than the rest of the field won the event running away. If it had been competitive then I could see the argument that this is fair but it's not fun to watch a blowout. I know the show hates ratings but Ryan was 12 points higher than his closest competitor and it really showed. To Brodie's point if we were golf and there was a larger pool of amateur talent keeping am worlds competitive then this would be a different story for sure.
@bernan13 ай бұрын
the rest of the AMs should be happy to have him there so they can learn from him by playing with him while they can. It's funny how people in DG simultaneously tell players to 'move up to play better players' while telling those better players to move up. Blowouts happen. It's the top of the AM division. People should throw better.

I don't think "good" players play par they play the hole the best they can
@Chillydall024 ай бұрын
Not always, there are lots of scenarios where a pro will throw a conservative shot rather than an aggressive shot that could have consequences if it goes wrong. Take for example hole 1 at ledgestone. Its a par 4, 600+ feet over water to get to the pin. Plenty of pros could make that throw and eagle that hole if they wanted to go for it. However 99.9% of them just play conservative on that hole and pitch their shot to the shorter Landing zone on the right. They’d rather take the easy birdie than go for eagle and end up OB.
@BigB3ar4 ай бұрын
@@Chillydall02 sorry I suppose I should have wrote my definition of playing par. but I think we are agreeing here. the players are playing the hole as designed (shot shape/landing zones/ob's/ECT) not the number listed on the sign. iv always thought we should just have par 3's and use your total strokes.
