I’m not sure what the purpose was or what it was about. However, I have mad respect for how high the production quality of this video is. And weather you were behind the camera or instructing on angles and scenes GREAT WORK.

Wha upload settings did you use for davinci resolve and if you don't use davinci thats fine but I want to know whats the best settings to avoid youtube compression problem
@CalviNNation5 жыл бұрын
That's tough. A clear, yet confusing answer to follow: Part of this depends on if you are a mac user or a windows user. As far as I know dnxhd is generally your highest quality compression on windows. Don't quote me on that though. As for mac we are talking about Apple Prores. Generally every codec will give you a bitdepth. 4.2.0 (8bit), 4.2.2(10bit), 4.4.4. (12bit). I shot these clips raw. Raw records a 12bit dng codec, after all is said and done grading that codec, it makes sense for me to export that to a Prores 444 quicktime movie. (This will give me the same end result if I got this exact look in camera and just shot on the Apple Prores 444 codec, which my camera can do) If my camera records 10 bit footage whether raw or not, I would export prores 422. So you would be essentially matching the quality from the Camera. By the very nature of the word "compression" there is only one way to go: Down. So the general rule is you cant compress footage to look better. Meaning if your camera shoots 4.2.0 footage, It makes little to no sense exporting 4.4.4. Short answer. Under the Apple Prores Codec (The codec of choice) 444 is best, but wont do anything beneficial for 2010 cellphone footage. Having said that, If you are shooting on any relatively high end consumer cameras, they likely wont be shooting much higher than 8 bit, but the standard rule of thumb is to simply export in Apple Prores 422HQ. Shortest answer. Apple Prores 422HQ Having said all that, the export of this video that you are watching on youtube looks about 30% worse here than the actual file that sits on my desktop. Right off the top, davinci exports a less contrasty and saturated image than you were probably hoping for. Exporting that to youtube, you lose another 10% percent. As we speak Ive been compensating for that and have another version of this video that is overcompensated to look good online.

This is absolutely gorgeous. Quick question, was this graded by hand or did you utilize some sort of conversion process like a color space transform for normalization?
@CalviNNation5 жыл бұрын
It's all graded by me. No luts or color space tweaks. Was shot in film mode, at raw 4:1. I actually didn't really watch it on here. KZbin took alot of brightness off it, and a lot of saturation. Check it out on vimeo if you like. vimeo.com/307780058
