I saw them in London before they changed the name to king crimson. The music was such a surprise - the record was not released yet - all new and so exciting, it sounded like nothing i heard before. Even the two pieces from the old KC repertoire - larks' tongues and Red - sounded new and fresh !

@@strawberryfields1149 Yes indeed, only I wish i could be in a performance of their most recent line-up. Unfortunately, they are one of the few great bands that keep on ignoring us so far, here in Greece, where I live.

What a great find this footage is! This club was a massive part of my youth and a tough place for a band to play, though many incredible big name bands chose to play there as it was so well known. Robert Fripp recalls guys in the audience constantly having to walk between Belew and Bruford whilst they were playing, as it was the only way to get to the guys' toilet (left of the drums). Fucking hilarious but cool - very 'real' vibe in there. Sadly I missed this one though, as I was only 16 at the time :( Did get to play there much later though, so that was cool :)

I saw them at Liverpool University on that tour. I sat on the parquet floor in front of Tony, and I remember the tiny stage was very low., possible only 18" or so, any hardly big enough for the band. I folded my arms on the edge of the stage and rested my chin.. I was just 16. I remember being a bit stoned and hearing/feeling/seeing the 3 different rhythm parts like blips on an ECG syncopating then dispersing and coming together again with Adrian Belew bending his whammy bar. Never heard any of it before, and new to the genre, but dug it immediately. All happened 3-10 feet away from me and cost £1.50. Anybody corroborate this or was it all a dream?

This video is incorrectly dated. It is actually the October 5th 1981 Moles show. This can firstly be proved because the date given was a Discipline show, not a King Crimson show, and in the early days Discipline did not refer to themselves as being King Crimson. Secondly and even more convincingly, Tony Levin has issued some signed prints from the April 30th show which demonstrate that Bruford was not using the extra tom above his floor tom (which appears in this video) on the Discipline tour.

Still boggles my mind that this is basically my hometown and I occasionally go to Moles whenever something interesting is on. In 37 years that street has not changed at all.
