I started building guitars a few years ago as a means of dealing with mental health issues like depression, anxiety and many times...thoughts of suicide. 16 guitars later, am still learning. I love this channel. My guitars are all works of art...and I make them with anything that I can find...be it pots, pans, tools, toasters, chainsaw cylinder heads, hubcaps, aluminum signs, pine cones.... even moose antlers. Most times I just stare at all the guitars in my room and just think it's junk. I dont have a "work shop" per say and not a lot of tools but am working on it. I even invested in a laser engraver to help me with some tedious tasks and my soldering is getting better every time. I'll keep coming back to this channel for inspiration :-)

I've been building, modifying, and setting up my own guitars since I subscribed. You and Cathy helped me get through the first year of my heart transplant journey. I can't afford much now, so I keep tinkering, and I am improving my guitars as I can. I have the itch to build one again. Hopefully, my VA pension will come through soon so I can do that and get a Scarred Brand guitar. Red and Tobacco are my favorite colors you stain guitars with a clear finish.

It’s like watching a guiTARTIST at work! I always enjoy watching you work. My grandfather worked as a unionized carpenter in a famous manhattan apartment building where he made and repaired furniture for rich people like Leonia Helmsley. He also built a house entirely by himself in NJ (if you saw how little of a man he was, you’d say that was remarkable 😂). Carpentry goes back a few generations on my dad’s side. My last name even means carpenter in Polish. My other grandfather made leather shoes at a factory in Belgium after surviving WWII (three of my grandparents were from Poland). He then made leather handbags and suitcases at a factory in Portland Oregon for a couple of years after they came to the US, and later did the same thing at a factory in the Garment District of Manhattan when they moved to NY. I always wish my paternal grandfather would have been alive to see me even attempting to fix a guitar because I could totally see him offering to help me build one (with zero experience cause who needs that 😂) and then hand planing the wood himself. He did use power tools from his day, but he really loved to work by hand. Even my mom’s dad might have offered to help me learn to make a leather gig bag or hard shell case! They would have loved seeing me make my apartment dining table into a workbench - cause who needs to use a table to eat?! 😂😂😂 Can’t wait for part three! This guitar is shaping up nicely. Looks like you were really proud of your work last night on the stream as it was drying. That’s the Scarred difference: you take pride in what you’re making and strive to keep QC standards high. That’s the secret Scarred sauce big companies are unfortunately missing. P.S. Buddy is a feisty talker! You weren’t kidding! He looks like so much fun!

As a lifetime builder of homes, every aspect from concrete to cabinets, I am impressed. It takes more than most people are gonna have to do this type work. You do better than I could with my present ability of never building a guitar. You convinced me I never want to, at least from scratch. The color schemes....well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. When I saw the stains applied I did freak out a bit. All that work....then I thought about it. It's your guitar, you make it yours with those choices, so ,to each their own.

I am so damn ecstatic I found your channel! You provide the total package like no other. When you do a review, it includes everything from the bones to the frets inside and out. Size of the pots to the wiring quality. Head stock first and how it is wrapped, not to mention the delivery holes! To top it off,you are funny as shit and right to the point! I haven't seen a video I opened of yours without watching to the end! My 6 year old grandson, Karter,is learning to play now and watches your videos with me. Sorry for the long comment but I really wanted to stress how great if a job you do. Keep it going!

I am shocked to see you made that neck mostly "free hand"... I was expecting the CNC machine to do it all, a complete perfect neck... but man, doing it free hand like that takes know-how, experience, courage... simply crazy - - that's too much for me :-) .... which makes me wonder even more how the hell are they selling Harley Benton, Firefly or even Epiphone or Squire for couple hundred $ if the entire think isn't 100% machine cut and machine finished ????? Damn....

I have a suggestion for you. I am an old man that used all sort of tools in my life. I have done a lot of the task you are doing on guitars, and in the construction of custom car interiors. My suggestion is use a tool with a smaller disc, and without all the torque of a drill motor. When the lignuns in the wood get hot, the disc will tend to grab. If the tool has a lot of torque, it can make it go where you dont want it to. Cutting deeper than intended. I found that the classic 3 inch 90 degree air grinder is much easier to control. I also use a 3 inch orbital. But only sparingly.

Have you ever checked out the Donner Strat style guitars? I wondered if someone here might have an opinion to offer. I have a DST 200 and 100 series Strat type. The 100 is the triple S type while the 200 is the S S H type. The bridges don't seem to be that great, and they can be a pain to intonate. However they do look nice and once you manage to set them up they do have a decent sound to them. The 200 also has coil splitting available on the Humbucker via the volume pot. Downside besides the bridge is the plastic saddle nut.

Have you ever thought about using automotive finishes, I know they are expensive but shure do rock the world on anything you have in mind.. and buffs nice I'm about too do your recommend Leo Jaymz Vai gutair in Pearl white with a sustainac pickup. I forgot which pickup you said was best on build guitars hum b style N-10. Or the 10.4 I want to use best choice since im using sustainer pickup on bridge side. Can we chat online I want too pick your brain on hooking up a kill switch on all pickups including sustainer?? The Indonesia company can't give me a diagram. Thanks for the great content and keep it up!! Can I buy a big Pick sign in your background? Scar My Gutair sign?

I do respect your opinion on the six saddles, but an artist of the video "The Original Twang" gave his opinion that the three saddles puts a different pressure on the strings and effects the tone.
