I really appreciate this video. I’m the mother of two autistic children. A seven-year-old and a five-year-old, and then they have a little three-year-old sister who is now copying their behavior. So the two older children are modeling dysfunctional behavior to the typical three-year-old. They also have been quite rough and a little abusive to her when she was just an infant. So now she’s very defensive and she hits and throws and scratches and bites. It’s a stressful situation because where we live, there is not any support for parenting classes on the spot for autism. I have done a lot of personal research and I haven’t found many resources on parenting multiple children with autism. This video, was very helpful to help me think a different perspective. It’s ❤one of the few that I found on KZbin that are specific to parenting autistic children. All of the other parenting videos I’ve seen may work with typical children , but it is not the same with autistic children. I I have still taken some of the advice and try to see if some of the parenting tactics for typical children would work, sometimes it would be helpful. On top of the autism, both of my older children who are five and seven years old also have ADHD. I appreciate the video. Please share more, and if you can, share a video about parents, who have multiple children who are autistic, and influence the younger siblings. I have an eight month old baby right now and she sometimes watches what’s going on and I try to turn her around because she’s probably traumatized or shocked at this behavior. She is only nine months and she’s been scratched a few times and pushed for no reason at all. The closest to any type of therapy that could be helpful would be ABA therapy, but that’s more about working on the children, not so much the parents… and it’s very expensive. Our daughter who is five years old has never had any therapies, but I recently found a place to repair. It was covered on my insurance so she had a session already. My son only had one year of ABA therapy and he’s currently in a Autism Behavior class in his school. It’s really really helpful and he loves it, but he does learn some bad habits from some of the other kids in his class that he brings home and then passes onto his sisters.

Thank you for this! I work with autistic kids, and I understand the difficulty of not physically trying to get a child to do something. I am asked to help the children physically move physically from classroom to classroom as well as to the bathroom and it can be so hard when they are upset. Appreciate the vulnerability and the discussion.
