Discontinued Patek Philippe Nautilus 5980/1A Hands on review - The next to pass £100K?

In this video I discuss the discontinued Patek Philippe Nautilus 5980 blue dial - my personal favourite Nautilus. At the time of shooting the 5980 in steel represents fantastic value given the heavily inflated price of the recently discontinued Nautilus 5711.
The Nautilus was released back in 1976 and was one of the first true luxury steel sports watch alongside the AP royal oak that was released 4 years prior; both were designed by the legendary designer Geráld Genta. The Nautilus was an instant hit amongst horology fans globally and since then we have seen a few iterations.
The 5980 is the pinnacle of a steel sports watch in my opinion, it's just exudes subtlety and class. This watch is for those who don’t feel the need to shout form the rooftop about the watch they have and prefer to fly under the radar with this absolute beast of the watch world, it's one of those if you know; you know kind of pieces.
The watch is perfectly proportioned and perfectly sized in my opinion.
I love the way Patek designed the chronograph on the 5980, rather than the common 3 sub dial chronograph, Patek designed a larger single sub dial that sits at 6 0'clock with 2 hands and a seconds hand for the chronograph function. it is a really great way to handle the Chrono.
The dial is a fantastic graduated blue fading to black like the original Nautilus 3700, and the colour just pops in the sunlight, it looks stunning!
The prices of the 5980 have seen fantastic jumps in recent years;
About 8 years ago these were in the low £20K range back when the most popular chronograph the Daytona could be picked up for sub 10 grand!
But this was before the Influx of interest the watch world has seen an especially the Nautilus. This same watch today is for sale for £80K! That is a 300% increase in the last 8 years alone.
Or a 37.5% year on year return, if you cannot see how powerful investing in watches is from this example then I don’t think you’ll ever see it! the ROI on this piece is absolutely crazy, I wish I knew back then what I know now about this model The return on this clearly far outstrips that of “conventional investments” and you get the added benefit of wearing perhaps the best Patek Nautilus we have seen! I truly believe a new, profitable and wearable asset class has been born with watches!
I still think this watch has further to go in terms of capital appreciation, it was discontinued back in 2014, Pateks production has always been low especially if you compare it to Rolex which has a much higher production but still makes a fantastic investment.
There is a high likelihood this watch will be over 100 grand in years to come!

Absurd price, for such a basic watch! Seen this Patek and other’s in Real, look’s and feels small! Suitable for children! Rolex is the King, larger head and body, not minuscule!
