Midnight in Paris is the most complimented fragrance I have ever worn. It's too sad it is no longer in production. Great for men; women went crazy every time I wore it. You got me all excited. 😢💔

I tracked down a small bottle of the vintage Van Cleef about a year ago. It is difficult to search on because of the name (same name twice)! I find it beautiful and unusual, very nice for winter. I might be in Paris next month so this a great reminder to check out the store there!

I love Van Cleef for women, and wore it in the 90's, my bottle got lost as I moved a lot, and I still miss at least sniffing that scent from time to time because it's the most gorgeous, complex fragrance that's dense, concentrated, thick, and almost off-putting at first, but it develops beautifully on skin. It felt like an old school fragrance to me, even then, but still undeniably beautiful. At the time I bought it I was in my mid twenties, maybe too young for such a serious perfume, but I loved it, and was always leaning to unisex, less girly sweet and floral scents. Oh, and the other love from that time was, still is, Chanel Egoiste which I still have in my collection! I hope I'll manage to get a bottle of the Van Cleef again!

Can't wait for your Absolue Pour Le Soir review. You're probably the only reviewer who actually has the older bottle for comparison. I've seen some stuff on KZbin but it's all just theorising what it might have smelled like.

Cheapest flights I can find to Paris are around $1200. Then a few hundred dollars for the fragrances... then another $500 or so for a room and food. Looking around, at least, $2000 for three bottles. This seems very unrealistic for the average person.....

I've been with Sebastian since the beginning. In a world of sell out reviewers looking to capitalize on the quick cash grab, I never feel like you are doing that. I appreciate your honesty and approach toward scents. It doesn't hurt that we have similar tastes. I'm so happy to see this VcA group come back. Hopefully they are as good as their last formulations. We shall see.

I've never tried any Van Cleef & Arpels fragrances. Pour Homme and Tsar both sound great. Might have to try and acquire a decant somehow. Thanks for sharing!

I owned a bottle of Tzar, and I finished it over 30 years ago. I think I paid $56 for it. It was the first "pricy" fragrance I owned, but I'm sure it goes for much more now.

My Dad bought me Van Cleef for one of my early 20s birthdays. I remember the shape of the bottle, but mine was an opaque blue-ish navy colour.

Van Cleef's best of all times was 98' released Between the sheets! Absolutely best cologne, EDT of all times, and the projection and longevity were one of a kind!😊

Tsar and Pour Homme were never discontinued, they were moved into the new bottles and available only at their flagship store in Place Vendome. Cheers!
