Heading to a SBGE001, grail watch when I first knew about grand seiko

I have wanted the SBGE001 since they first came out in the US, and I was finally able to pick one up in 2021. At the time I was REALLY torn between the 001 and the 257. I am happy though because I was able to get the watch I had been dreaming of owning since 2010 or 2011! I intentionally got the 001 instead of the 201 because I wanted the older style branding. My next watch is going to be the SBGA413 one day!

Just bought the 255 at a tax-free shop in Kyoto. On sale at 10% off the current 715K yen and no tax. 650K yen all-in or $4300 at current exchange rates. That was a deal too good to pass up, and I love the watch.

Hey. Unpopular opinion here... I don't think your analogy is completely fair. I think Grand Seiko does a great job at designing purpose built watches. Most of their sport models have micro adjustment. Their dress models don't. I think a more fitting analogy would be spending $100,000 on a sports car, but it doesn't have... uhh... cooled, heated, and massaging seats - whereas a luxury sedan at that price point would have those features. What do you think?
