Discord is filled with scammers and recently there has been a surge of scams around the NFT space. People advertise a Discord server and the scammers are looking for a "paid moderator / collaboration manager / community manager position".
But before you can reject humanity and live inside for the rest of your life, you get hit with a discord verification system. Now this isn't anything particularly new but it's disappointing to see how Discord trust and safety deals with these scammers.

Honestly, I'm still surprised that discord, one of the worlds biggest chat applications, didn't even "finish" the new report system, so now scams are a lot harder to be taken down. Instead, they are just adding a domain connection into ur profile, making scams a lot easier, and verifying scam bots. What are they doing??????!

They removed trust & safety? Don't know what I expected. I tried using it to report someone for threatening to dox me, and after 3-4 months they've still done nothing because I "didn't have the message link" and they "couldn't accept attachments" but they wanted to "reassure me that it was a high priority for them to look into these things" in spite of all that. And for the record, I _couldn't_ get the message link, because not only was I kicked out of the group chat where this happened, but the messages were nearly immediately _deleted_ while giving me just barely enough time to see them. Discord's report system is just incredibly flawed to begin with. I love the app itself, but the moderation is HOT GARBAGE.

I also like how you cant report any users to discord via support. The only option is a "report message" button, but good luck doing that if you're banned. I once sent a user ID, guild ID and a plenty of screenshots of a scam user to discord supp with a request to at least look into the user, but got response "we can't and won't do anything, use report message button" (which frankly enough i can't do since I'm not in the guild anymore). Feels like they just don't want to deal with that anymore. I bet even gpt would do better job at moderation, despite it being gullible and barely functional

When I created my discord bot (a while ago), and it was time to verify it so that more people could add my bot to their server, Discord told me that they would never verify my bot because the growth was "inorganic". In fact, we'd done an advert on Tiktok that went down well, but they get verified without a hitch. Since then, the project has died (thanks to Discord), but I wonder how this is possible.

In short: I used to have an account with 2FA lock set up, one day lost access to code generation app and didn't have backup codes.. I had ALL the proof for proving the account was mine otherwise but all they did was tell me that I needed the recovery codes or make new account. Ended up actually creating new account in the end. Losing friends, history of good times with people I knew and time spent on the servers I enjoyed...

Thanks! This just happened to me alittle while ago but not with discord but from a job which got my phone number from an actual government website I uploaded a resume to. I sensed some slight fishyness but there was a site, an app and I even had an interview on Microsoft MyTeams for 2 hours! So long story short I ended up getting Aura because some of my info leaked which is what brought me here cause its hard for me to trust anything BOTS included lol I might have to get this defense too. I tried to report a server that is used for targeted harassment and organised bullying. Discord basically responded saying “sorry. You can’t report here. You have to right click a specific message in the server and report it”

once 2 of my friends got hacked by the owner of this server called “Creepz NFT Group” I joined it because i didnt see the name, but i realized the name was a lil fishy and thought that it was weird. They just said “Get in!” and then the discord invite. My friend JR_VR got his account back, but, my friend Dessarted didnt. He luckily has a new account now but that doesnt matter. I later found out that theyve been changing the server name to avoid termination. Now it’s the “ONE PERCENT GROUP” but they probably either got terminated by now or they changed the name again. By the way, last time I checked they had *17 THOUSAND MEMBERS* . stay safe, Also they also make the hacked bot accounts say “join i got 5 invites left” or something close to that. So, be careful.
