Karl undertook a PhD in education on the topic of "Justifying school- and self : an ethnography on race, recognition and viability in Ireland". He carried out an ethnographic investigation of a school in Ireland and analysed his data using discourse analysis.

Hi Graham, thanks for these videos, all are very useful. Can I enquire what software you use to put powerpoint slides in the corner of your videos? I think this could be very useful for my long-distance learners. Thanks, Hannah

Hannah, I save the slides as high resolution png files from PowerPoint. These are then imported into the NLE I use, which is Final Cut Pro. FCP allows you to stack a large number of images on the timeline and these can be resized, repositioned and otherwise controlled in time using keyframes. This also means I can zoom in on the image if needed and use overlaid rectangles etc. to highlight words on the slides.
